Summary/Objective: The Additive Manufacturing Engineer works closely with Engineering, Sales, and Operations to design, develop and implement Additive Manufacturing components into production. Responsibilities include CAD design/modifications, printing, cleaning, and curing Additive components, establishing build processes for new designs, and debugging new Additive technologies. The focus of the Additive Engineers work is to collaborate with a variety of departments and design in Additive as a production solution.Essential Functions/Responsibilities:
  1. Work with Engineering, Operations, and Sales to implement Additive components into production.
  2. Lead and execute design changes that optimize component geometries for 3D printing.
  3. Carryout successful printing of 3D parts.
  4. Debug new systems and processes.
  5. Develop manufacturing best practices, parameters, process windows, and work instructions that improve Additive Manufacturing operation and print success.
  6. Design and establish Additive Manufacturing processes for new and existing products.
  7. Work with Engineering and Operations to qualify Additive Manufacturing designs.
  8. Design and implement new ways to process additively manufactured components.
  9. Develop/research new Additive Manufacturing methods/systems that help advance the department & company long-term.
  10. Provide general guidance, direction, and support to other departments/sites that utilize Additive Manufacturing processes.
  11. Develop cross functional relationships that help promote the adoption of Additive Manufacturing at Samtec.

  1. 2-3 years of product/tooling design utilizing CAD
  2. Experience in a high-volume production environment
  3. Strong computer and communication skills
  4. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, creative mindset.
Preferred Education:
  1. Bachelors Degree in Engineering (Manufacturing, Mechanical, etc.)
  2. Additive Manufacturing experience
  3. Problem-Solving background is highly desirable.
  4. Lean Manufacturing experience
  5. Self-starting, self-directed with very good influential, organizational and communication skills.
