Compensation Range

Hourly: $23.20 - $26.90 (Amount based on relevant experience, skills, and competencies.)



About This Job



As a Account Manager I - Merchant, you'll actively work with Commerce Bank's clients to ensure account retention including contract renewal as well as to identify expansion and cross-sell opportunities to increase client satisfaction with the bank, while improving the overall revenue generated from the relationship.



Essential Functions



  • Build relationships with key personnel of assigned/unassigned accounts to ensure business retention and expansion


  • Identify expansion and cross-sell opportunities to increase client satisfaction with the Bank, while improving the overall revenue


  • Effectively manage the contract renewal process through defined pricing strategy and negotiation


  • Introduce appropriate products to portfolio accounts, including: software and technology as well as introduce alternate business lines for potential cross-sell in Commercial Products, Treasury, etc.


  • Remain up to date with education and training as it relates to products, pricing and services offered including new product offerings, technical enhancements and industry changes.


  • Perform other duties as assigned





Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required



  • Basic knowledge of contract negotiations


  • Basic knowledge of commercial or consumer credit


  • Ability to handle complex industry account management typically found with small to mid-size businesses


  • Ability to recommend appropriate solutions that may also require coordination of activities through multiple resources to ensure clients' objectives are met


  • Excellent presentation skills


  • Motivated and organized self-starter with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities


  • Inquisitive, agile and strong team player with excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills


  • Ability to remain adaptable and resilient to all situations with an optimistic outlook and cast a positive shadow that is aligned with our culture and Core Values


  • Intermediate level proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook





Education & Experience



  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting or Finance or equivalent combination of education and experience required


  • 2+ years business to business sales or support experience required


  • 1+ year commercial card, commercial lending, merchant bankcard or sales experience in the areas of sales, marketing and/or accounting required


  • Previous financial services, marketing, or customer service experience preferred




**Hybrid Schedule: In office 2 days per week

At Commerce, compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each situation. A reasonable estimate of the current base pay is $23.20 to $26.90 per hour. This position will be eligible for additional compensation through performance-based incentive plan(s) that will correspond to meeting performance goals.
