Job Summary
Central Resource Team, (CRT) are part of a team that "float" to various departments within Massachusetts General Hospital and provide Patient Care Associate (PCA) care to either a patient requiring observation or acting as a nursing unit PCA. The position allows staff the opportunity to work in many areas and gain experience across the hospital. Collaboration with all health care workers across disciplines is fundamental to our care with the CRT. Under the direction of a registered nurse (RN), the PCA assists the multi-disciplinary health care team in clinical support functions to promote a safe, compassionate patient care environment. CRT is seeking a PCA, with Day, and Night availability, and to provide rotating weekend and holiday coverage.



Qualifications



What are we looking for?


  • Assisting the healthcare team, the PCA promotes a safe and caring environment for patients under the mentorship of an RN.

  • PCA assists patients with daily living needs, monitoring & reading vital signs, drawing blood, and obtaining EKGs. Responds to patient requests in a timely manner, safeguarding patient confidentiality, monitoring patient safety, and always communicating in a respectful manner.

  • Effective customer service orientation and the ability to interact with diverse groups of patients, staff and providers.

  • Demonstrated ability to solve basic patient and practice problems using a combination of strong interpersonal and communication skills, attention to detail and superior organizational skills.

  • Ability to lift and transport patients, using the appropriate physical technique, in a safe manner for the patient and self.







Schedule



  • Day (7am-7pm, 7am-3pm), and Night (7pm-7am, 11pm-7am) shift

  • Rotational holiday and weekend schedule

Required : Must have recent experience, and/or training, in clinical patient care.



Preferred : Licensed, certified, or enrolled student in a Nursing Assistant, Medical Assistant, Mental Health Technician, or EMT accredited program, at the time of hire, OR Candidate enrolled in a Nursing, Pre-Med, PA undergraduate program, with at least one semester of patient care rotations completed, at time of hire
