The Hamilton Lugar School carries forward Indiana University's proud tradition of global involvement and leadership with a multicultural, multidisciplinary approach to learning. The school hosts 4 departments and more than 20 nationally recognized centers and programs.



Job Summary



This position is part of an advancement team in the Hamilton Lugar School and reports to the Senior Director of Development. This role identifies donor and engagement prospects and cultivates relationships with alumni and donors. This role develops and implements plans to sustain, steward, and increase financial and engagement support for the School.


Department Specific Responsibilities


  • Coordinates alumni relations and annual giving efforts for the Hamilton Lugar School.

  • Builds relationships with alumni and identifying new prospects, with attention given to graduates since the school's founding in 2012 as well as alumni of antecedent units and programs.

  • Collaborates with partners within the School, including student success staff, faculty, and others, to provide opportunities for alumni to engage.

  • Individually solicits annual giving donors for gifts to the School.

  • Designs and executes the School's mass market annual giving efforts both independent of and in collaboration with IU Foundation Annual Giving.

  • Liaises with School departments, centers, institutes, and programs to provide them support and guidance in engaging and making annual gift solicitations of their alumni and friends.

  • Builds upon the success of existing IU Alumni Association partnerships and events by partnering with IUAA staff in key geographies (Chicago, Washington, D.C., New York, etc.).

  • Coordinates stewardship efforts for the Hamilton Lugar School.

  • Designs and executes processes for documenting fund use, scholarship recipient information, funded experiential learning reflections, etc., and reporting to relevant donors, stewarding them for their gifts to the School.

  • Oversees the acknowledgment process for the School.

  • Collaborates with IU Foundation Stewardship on university-wide or centralized stewardship efforts.

  • Documents communications, analyzes data, evaluates success and makes recommendations for change to campaign strategy.

  • Serves as the point person for alumni relations, annual giving, and stewardship efforts at the Hamilton Lugar School in cooperation and coordination with the Senior Director of Development.

General Responsibilities


  • Identifies new prospects, cultivates relationships, and manages a portfolio and/or region of donors building a pipeline for solicitation.

  • Executes plans and designs campaigns to sustain and increase donations.

  • Collaborates with development colleagues university-wide to align prospects/donors' interests with university funding needs and opportunities.

  • Maintains meaningful and consistent contact with potential donors to communicate university goals and solicit their support.

  • Introduces campus/school fundraisers to appropriate gift prospects for cultivation.

EDUCATION



Required



  • Bachelor's degree in related field

WORK EXPERIENCE



Required



  • 2 years experience in fundraising/development, sales, communications, public relations, a higher education foundation, or related field

Working Conditions / Demands



This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus.
