ATA Services Inc. is currently seeking to hire an experienced Legal Assistant to work on a temporary assignment with the State of New Mexico – Health Care Authority in Albuquerque, NM.
Employees perform filing, typing, data entry, word processing, and other computer software applications; operate photocopiers, fax machines, and other office equipment; proofread copies; redacting documents.
Customer and Personal Service — Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
This position is responsible for responding to multiple and continuous Inspection of Public Records Act requests, Freedom of Information Act requests and subpoenas and other specific records requests.
The position is required to identify, research, and provide request records and follow legal requirements when providing and releasing records. The position must comply with all HIPPA, FOIA and IPRA regulations, and must redact restricted information as required.
This position also supports the Employee Abuse Registry (EAR), Certified Nurse Aide Registry (CNA) processes as needed.
This position supports the DHI open records policy to redact and post all surveys to the DHI website “Provider Search” webpage.
This position requires a high level of skills, analyzing, problem solving, critical and independent thinking and decision making.
This position works closely with management of various special projects.
REQUIREMENTS:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required
1-5 years of experience as an administrative assistant (preferably in a law firm or in a corporate legal department), legal assistant, legal secretary, or paralegal
Detail-oriented and highly organized
Excellent verbal and written communication skills and professional demeanor
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
Ability to work independently, manage large workloads, and keep deadlines
MS Office applications – Word, Excel
Document management tasks such as organizing exhibits.
File pleadings with court clerk.
Work with outside businesses for delivery of subpoenas and other documents
Work with computers, copiers, printers
Provide general administrative assistance to attorneys
