POSITION: Plant Operator I FLSA CLASSIFICATION: Non-Exempt
LOCATION: Taunton, MA
REPORTS TO: Plant Supervisor
POSITION SUMMARY
This position is responsible for disposal acceptance of sewage and FOG waste and maintaining equipment, disposal and operation logs in septic and wastewater processing plant.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform all work with safety and compliance top of mind.
Works independently within established procedures associated with the specific job function.
Monitors control panels and makes adjustments to the plant operations as needed.
Observes variations in operating conditions and interprets instrument, meter and gauge readings and test results to determine process control needs.
Responsible for operating equipment associated with receiving, headworks etc.
Maintaining detailed operational logs, including equipment readings, flow rates, chemical usage, and any irregularities observed.
Monitoring and controlling pumps, valves, flow meters, blowers, aerators, clarifiers, filters, and other treatment equipment to maintain optimal wastewater treatment processes.
Monitors equipment for potential failures and may make minor repairs or adjustments as needed.
Perform plant housekeeping and cleaning
Performing routine maintenance tasks like cleaning, lubrication, and minor repairs on equipment, identifying and reporting potential issues to maintenance personnel.
Calibration, cleaning and documentation of process instrumentation like Conductivity, pH, Temp and other meters and instruments as needed.
Perform and document daily plant process parameters, testing results and discharge volumes etc. including collecting all necessary samples for testing at our in-house laboratory and outside laboratories as required.
Hook up and unload tractor trailers, and pump trucks, as needed and conducting necessary sampling and testing and processing disposal tickets.
Performs other related duties as required.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's), operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
Familiarity with data entry and reporting software to record and analyze operational data.
Ability to speak effectively with customers, vendors and employees of organization.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as volumes etc.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
Ability to complete standard wet lab tests like pH, Conductivity etc.
If not already confined space certified will need to become certified in confined space entry.
Be able and willing to work weekends, evening or night shifts.
Be able to work overtime as may be required.
Must have a valid driver's license.
Must be able to operate in a drug-free workplace.
Must be able to meet physical demands evaluation. ES
