Vertiv is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Lab Technician. In this role, you will collaborate closely with our Research & Development (R&D) and Offering Team to evaluate prototypes and products related to power distribution equipment. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure that these products meet quality standards and specifications through rigorous testing and evaluation processes. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, excellent problem-solving skills, and a passion for delivering high-quality products.
Responsibilities:
Collaborate with the R&D and Offering Team to understand project requirements and objectives.
Support design engineers and other team members in the construction of prototypes for our customers.
Maintain R&D Lab and Prototype build areas within 5s company policies for cleanliness and organization.
Perform thorough evaluations of prototypes and products to ensure they comply with UL 857 standards, local regulations, and company protocols.
Conduct a variety of tests, including functional, performance, durability, and reliability tests, on power distribution equipment.
Provide support to our test technicians by assisting with test setups, data collection, and troubleshooting.
Document test procedures, results, and observations accurately and thoroughly.
Analyze test data and identify any deviations from specifications or quality standards.
Collaborate with engineers, designers, and other team members to troubleshoot issues and propose solutions.
Participate in the development and refinement of testing procedures and protocols.
Maintain testing equipment and ensure it is calibrated and functioning properly.
Provide feedback on product design, performance, and usability to support continuous improvement efforts.
Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations while performing testing activities, ensuring strict compliance with UL 857 standards and other relevant local regulations.
Requirements:
3+ years of experience in Design within the manufacturing environment or directly related experience.
Experience with power distribution applications and/or the data center industry is advantageous.
Experience designing mild steel sheet welded assemblies, extruded/injection molded plastic parts and assemblies.
Electrical Wiring expertise preferred.
Knowledge of DFM (Design for Manufacturing) DFA (Design for Assembly) DFE (Design for Environment).
Knowledge of Process flow, PFMEA, Control plan, Standard Operating Procedure preparation.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite. Smartsheet, and other business applications are desirable.
Demonstrated competence in communication and problem-solving.
Technical certification or experience in a relevant field (e.g., engineering technology, electronics, mechanical engineering).
Prior experience in product testing, prototype evaluation, or quality assurance preferred.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy in documentation and data analysis.
Methodical and organized approach to work, with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
Knowledge of standards such as UL 857, National Electrical Code (NEC), and familiarity with local regulations applicable to the industry.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Familiarity with testing equipment and tools commonly used in product evaluation.
Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and testing methodologies.
