JOB DESCRIPTION

Primary purpose:

Responsible for supervising a team of technicians that perform routine required pipeline, compressor and pump station, meter station and related facility cathodic protection activities on regulated facilities that fall under 49 CFR 192 subpart I, and 49 CFR 195 subpart H, as well as non-regulated field gathering facilities. Responsible for identifying annual capital cathodic protection projects to maintain annual DOT compliance on regulated facilities and the same level of compliance on non-regulated field gathering facilities. Manage identified projects, take bids, award projects, coordinate schedules, etc. Create and maintain annual expense and capital budgets, monthly tracking of current expenses and monthly forward forecasting of future expenses. Provide ongoing support to the field technicians, corporate corrosion, engineering and integrity groups. Other project management duties as required.Minimum requirements:

Education:


  • Associate degree from an accredited institution in Engineering, Business or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of five (5) years direct work experience in crude oil/gas pipeline system corrosion operations, including prior supervisory responsibility may be considered as a substitute for a degree.

Experience/Specific Knowledge:

  • A minimum five (5) years working experience with corrosion operations of crude oil/gas pipeline systems.
  • A minimum of five (5) years with direct people management.
  • Knowledge and experience in operation of pipeline, measurement, pump stations, compression and all related equipment.
  • Knowledge and experience in safe handling practices of crude oil, flammable gases, liquids and high- and low-pressure systems.
  • Intermediate proficiency level in MS Office applications that may include but are not limited to Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint and Outlook.

Certifications, Licenses & Registrations:
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers (for travel).

  • Good math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, decimals).
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to manage crews at multiple locations and multiple tasks daily.

Working Conditions:

  • Living environs may be negotiable and will be relevant to the work location.
  • Some overnight travel as required.

  • Ensure that all work is completed in accordance with internal company standards, following approved policies, procedures, safety rules, budgets and in a manner that promotes system integrity and customer satisfaction.
  • Provide oversight for corrosion technicians
  • Ensure that data is collected within the specified timelines
  • Ensure the proper design and installation of cathodic protection systems
  • Develop and implement strategies and programs to mitigate internal and external pipeline corrosion.
  • Plan, schedule, assign and direct work for a group of corrosion technicians.
  • Manage all DOT-PHMSA and other regulatory requirements and be prepared to assist and present during inspections or audits in the areas of responsibility.
  • Continually monitor for and implement company procedures, standards and best practices as work is performed.
  • Maintain a thorough knowledge of all procedures for which they are responsible for ensuring compliance.
  • Directly responsible for group safety, environmental compliance, governmental compliance, employee training and development, facility security and all other group personnel functions.
  • Ensure that all requirements on the Operator Qualification (OQ) Program are met for both company employees and contract personnel.
  • Provide leadership and manage the planning and direction of activities at multiple locations within the region.
  • Supervise contract personnel working on identified projects.
  • Create, manage and forecast Capital and O&M Budgets for the region corrosion group.
  • Identify needed projects, AFE project preparation, scheduling and monitoring projects costs through project completion.
  • Participate in the development, ongoing reviews and resulting edits of O&M procedures, site-specific procedures, project scopes and work plans.
  • Identify, report and correct any safety and environmental concerns.
  • Manage and perform field investigation on pipeline anomalies and failures such as internal or external corrosion damage, physical damage such as dents and gouges, leaks and/or ruptures by evaluating the problem, gathering and analyzing data, developing and recommending solutions.
  • Conduct safety incident investigations as needed.
  • Conduct performance evaluations of direct reports.
  • Manage personnel-related matters, including providing performance-based feedback, providing support and completing field activities and administrative paperwork as needed.
  • Maintain communication of work plans with region technical manager and required corporate groups.
  • Organize work for timely completion.
  • Complete all applicable documentation and record keeping.
  • Respond to emergency situations at any time.
  • Foster a positive and open work environment.
  • Demonstrate and enforce the highest professional integrity, ethics and safety discipline.
  • Demonstrate and reinforce a culture of safety and regulatory compliance.
