The Senior Media Technician works to support faculty, students, and staff through the use of audio, multimedia, and digital video equipment; regularly advances knowledge of emerging audio, video, and multimedia technologies; and coordinates multimedia technology for class and event sessions within their area of responsibility. The Senior Media Technician coordinates the work of multimedia technicians in the field, including assigning tasks and performing quality control as needed. This position supports afternoon and evening classes and events on the Cambridge campus.
Position Description
The Senior Media Technician - Events:
Supports faculty and other clients with multimedia in classrooms and event spaces; records a variety of meetings and events;
In a highly skilled manner, operates video, audio, and multimedia equipment in one or more of the following areas;
Directs and/or switches video aspects of multi-camera live productions.
Operates professional video cameras, lensing, lighting, and camera movement supports to create dynamic and well-composed and framed shots.
Operates microphones, consoles, and audio software to produce clean, balanced, and loudness-conforming recordings;
Sets up, configures, and operates sound reinforcement systems to achieve optimal sound quality.
Coordinates the work of the technical team assigned to the event as needed;
Is responsible for live streaming and recording on a number of platforms throughout campus depending upon the infrastructure available in the location;
Prepares, transports, sets up and operates equipment during events;
Leverages installed audiovisual systems to support events;
Assists with related duties as needed such as media uploads, equipment inventory, operation of classroom multimedia equipment, and infrastructure maintenance.
Basic Qualifications
3+ years of experience in professional video production, and multimedia equipment at the industrial, educational, or broadcast level.

Formal education beyond high school or a technical school certification desirable.
Successful experience providing multimedia customer service in a fast-paced academic environment.
Proven ability to coordinate the work of a technical team, deliver professional customer service, and manage multiple simultaneous work assignments.
Analytical and troubleshooting skills and the ability to identify and resolve technical process issues.
Effective interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills.
Ability to work with a range of constituents and to develop solutions to service problems in a client-friendly manner.
Significant experience in all aspects of video production with an emphasis on live streaming and PTZ cameras and operation.
Demonstrated skill and experience in setting up and operating sound systems with digital consoles and mixing live events such as multi-speaker panels and other common academic meeting types.
Knowledge of a range of computer software and operating systems is preferred.
Working Conditions
CTS, Crestron DMC-E, and Dante certifications desirable.

This position works on Cambridge campus locations, performance venues and the ESS main office for event preparation and virtual event production.
