Job Description:



As an Engineering Manager on the Credit Platform team, you will lead the build and enhancement for a suite of tools that allow our US and international Credit customers to easily finance their everyday purchases. We need you to assist us in developing high-quality, high-performing, secure applications and participate in all aspects of application development including design, coding, security, testing, and production releases. You will be delivering new features, reacting to customer feedback, helping to ensure quality, working closely with our product team, and ensuring compliance. This will include developing new features, enhancements, and bug fixes for our back-end services and batch jobs with clients ranging from web and mobile customer-facing applications, as well as, internal customer servicing and back-office applications. You'll work closely with our product team in an agile environment to bring features from conception to launch. Furthermore, you will participate in code reviews to ensure code quality and shared knowledge and collaborate with other teams across Credit to ensure transparency and effective delivery.

Job Responsibilities

• Manage and lead a 5-8 person development team that is part of a larger technology organization spanning multiple locations.


• Partner with team tech lead(s) to drive the domain's architecture and technical direction.


• Work with the Product team to clarify requirements, facilitate discussion, and track implementation/release dates.


• Create strong relationships with your team, peers, and the myriad of other organizations we collaborate with daily across PayPal.


• Own and drive work effectively, communicating both inside and outside the team to understand dependencies and deliver the right platform capabilities.


• Work in an Agile environment with 2-week sprints on a mix of new features and maintenance of existing software.


• Set clear expectations for your team and provide regular performance feedback in an open, honest, and direct way.


• Foster an inclusive and supportive environment within the team.


• Participate in hiring with a focus on great and diverse talent.


• Provide clear feedback to Credit Platform leadership to help us stay on plan and constantly improve.

Job Requirements

• 7+ years of experience in software development.


• 4+ years of leadership experience as either a dev lead or equivalent.


• Have a habit of continuous learning and motivation for self-improvement.

Additional Potential Qualifications

• Experience with Java development, RESTful web services, and supporting frameworks.


• Experience developing automated unit, integration, and functional test suites.


• Experience with Git source control and effective branching/release management practices.


• Knowledge of public cloud infrastructure and APIs.


• Familiarity with Unix commands and basic Unix scripting.

The U.S. national annual pay range for this role is
$96900 to $234300
