The Recreational Therapist accepts recreational therapy referrals and provides therapeutic opportunities for individual patients and/or groups of patients to develop and practice healthy leisure/recreational/sport activities in the psychiatric inpatient treatment setting.
The Recreational Therapist provides therapeutic services, including assessment, intervention, program planning and implementation, assists with discharge planning, and provides related documentation in collaboration with the interdisciplinary treatment team.
Minimum Education Required
Bachelor's Level Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Therapeutic Recreation from an accredited program, or equivalent experience; certification as a Therapeutic Recreation Specialist through the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification preferred; demonstrates competence to meet essential job functions; maintains knowledge related to patient care issues, performance improvement and cost reduction, current policies, procedures, and protocols, completes annual education and health requirements; maintains current CTRS certification.
