Scope of Position
The Digital Content Specialist is responsible for producing content across The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center websites with a focus on patient-centered content. They are part of the Service Line Web Content team, collaborating with marketing, digital, and clinical teams to plan, write, and produce content for the medical center websites. The Digital Content Specialist is responsible for all aspects of a content project - from initial research and discovery, gathering input from industry, marketing, and clinical leaders, integrating search engine optimization (SEO) recommendations and brand standards into written content, to project setup and communication. They work closely with the User Experience (UX) Design team to build and publish content. The Digital Content Specialist continually seeks ways to improve our content development and marketing efforts to best meet the needs of our patients.
They will:
Write and develop content that aligns with SEO recommendations, brand guidelines, and style standards to meet the needs of our patients, faculty, students, and staff.
Assist manager and Sr. Digital Content Specialists to gather requirements from marketing and clinical teams to ensure alignment with business objectives and operational realities.
Conduct comparative research with similar organizations to identify opportunities for content improvements and best practices integration.
Manage workflows within project management tools to update and communicate status to project management, digital and marketing team members.
Adhere to established processes designed to optimize outcomes.
Assist with efforts to secure and manage approvals on content development from marketing and clinical leaders.
Collaborate with UX, SEO, proofing, and other teams to optimize and produce high-quality content.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and 2 years of writing web content and creating web pages.
Desired Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in journalism, English or related communication field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Minimum of 3 years of proven experience in writing, communication, public relations or related field required with relevant digital content creation and management experience preferred
Knowledge and proven record of writing, content development and usage of AP style
Strong understanding of web design concepts and implementation as it relates to content development.
Experience interviewing subject matter experts, clinical leaders and executives
Proven track record of gathering input from multiple sources, conducting competitive and related research to inform the writing process.
Ability to work creatively and collaboratively with marketing, clinical and digital stakeholders to implement, optimize, and publish content.
Working knowledge of analytics, SEO best practices, and content management systems.
Strong interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with senior management.
Exceptional communication, critical thinking and decision-making abilities.
Understanding of digital accessibility best practices and requirements.
