Under general direction from the Communications Center Director, provides day-to-day direction and supervision of Communications Supervisors on all assigned shifts and assists in the planning and managing of the day-to-day operations of the Communications Center. Serves as a working supervisor handling 911 calls or alarm center functions as needed. Supervisory responsibilities include collaborating with assigned shift supervisors to ensure staffing level meets or exceeds minimum coverage requirements, overseeing Communications Center operations during assigned shift and as needed during the Communications Center Director's absence. Also assists with recruitment, selection and training of communication officers.Appropriately handles a wide variety of routine and complex complaints and emergency situations and preparing daily briefing materials for all sections of the Division and coordinates daily briefings for communications staff. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Communications Center Director, from whom the incumbent receives general policy guidance and instruction.
Minimum Experience and Education:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required that provides the applicant with the knowledge, skills and ability required to successfully perform the duties of the position. Minimum of five years of progressively responsible emergency communications dispatching experience in a comparable public safety-dispatching center required. Two years of relevant experience in a supervisory capacity successfully performing progressively increased responsibilities required. Relevant two-year degree or bachelor's degree desired; Or any equivalent combination of education and experience that
provides the applicant with the knowledge, skills and ability required to successfully perform the duties of the position. Experience with state laws and regulations regarding Communication Center activities is required. Minimum five years of experience with CAD, E911, Law Enforcement Automated Data System (LEADS), and other security technology equipment is required. Experience or other qualifications that demonstrate strong decision-making skills, excellent interpersonal communication and conflict resolution skills, and an ability to successfully supervise, motivate, mentor, train and evaluate assigned staff is desired.

Unusual Working Condition(s):
Subject to 24‐hour call in. May work any assigned shift, including days, evenings, nights, or swing shifts.
May work weekends and holidays. Required to work all home football games and other significant campus events. This position is identified as an Essential position, whose presence is required regardless of the existence of an emergency condition, and whose absence from duty could endanger the safety and well‐being of the campus population and/or physical plant.
