PART-TIME EVEING INSTRUCTOR - GENERAL NURSING



Classroom and Clinical Instruction



Teaching Location(s): Franklin County Extension Campus, Winchester, TN





DEPARTMENT: Allied Health FUNCTIONAL AREA: (35) Instruction



JOB FAMILY: Adjunct Faculty CLASSIFICATION: Part-time - Non-exempt - Hourly



HOURS: Maximum 29 hrs./wk., Monday through Thursday



Classroom Hours 3:30 pm to 9:30 pm



Clinical Hours: 3:00 pm to 10:30 pm, Mondays and Wednesdays starting in June.




DIRECT SUPERVISON FROM: Coordinator of Practical Nursing



DAILY COORDINATION WITH: Instructor of Practical Nursing



The Tennessee Colleges of Applied Technology (TCATs) serve as the premier suppliers of workforce development throughout the State of Tennessee. We are currently seeking an Adjunct (part-time) Instructor for our General Nursing program at our extension campus in Winchester, TN. This is an evening class that meets four nights per week, Monday through Thursday from 3:30 pm to 9:30 pm (until clinical practice begins). Clinical hours are from 3:00 pm to 10:30 pm Mondays & Wednesdays beginning in June.



MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS



  • Registered Nurse with current licensure in the state of Tennessee

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing

  • 3+ years of recent clinical experience



PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS



  • 3+ years of technical teaching experience

  • Classroom experience and administrative experience in delivery of workforce education and competency-based training.



KNOWLEDGE SKILLS ABILITIES



  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of the industry and the ability to use the tools and equipment used in the occupation.

  • Knowledge of the principles and methods of good teaching and supervision as evidenced by a rating of education and experience.

  • Ability to effectively utilize Microsoft Office programs and other basic computer software and skills needed for the teaching profession.

  • Physical ability to lift up to 30 lbs. and to move throughout the teaching area to demonstrate and perform all occupational duties, with or without accommodation.

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective interpersonal working relationships and to deal tactfully with students, faculty, staff, industry partners, and the public.

  • Strong interpersonal skills; effective oral and written communication skills; and excellent organizational and planning skills.

  • Ability to express ideas clearly, concisely, and convincingly, and to plan and direct the work of others, as evidenced by an interview and teaching presentation.

  • Ability to exercise good judgment in evaluating situations and making decisions.



RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Follow course curriculum and lesson plans and deliver instruction accordingly.

  • Teach courses on campus or at clinical sites as assigned.

  • Utilize in-class assessment tools/techniques to measure student achievement of course competencies.

  • Utilize Banner to record and submit grades and attendance (tardiness and absences) daily.

  • Distribute student syllabus at the beginning of the course to define course competencies, performance criteria, established approved grading procedures and standards, attendance and class policies/procedures, and other necessary information to students.

  • Teach worker ethics curriculum, interpersonal skills, post-secondary workforce skills, and soft skills within the standard industry framework.

  • Maintain an organized, safe, and stable learning environment that is conducive to all (COE) accreditation requirements.

  • Demonstrate a commitment to student success by providing guidance and advice to students regarding course progress, and academic and disciplinary issues.

  • Coordinate all disciplinary issues with Coordinator of Practical Nursing.



SPECIFIC DUTIES



  • Adhere to the school calendar and daily class schedule.

  • Start and end class at designated time.

  • Check and respond to emails twice daily (minimum).

  • Coordinate necessary absences with Coordinator of Practical Nursing and to coincide with student breaks.

  • Work a maximum of 29 hours per week.

  • Other duties as defined by administration.



TIMELINE: Applications will be reviewed immediately and accepted until filled.



HOURLY WAGE: $35 per hour, commensurate with experience and TBR/Tennessee College of Applied Technology salary guidelines.
