Position Description

Drive a commercially licensed ready-mix truck for the purpose of hauling ready mix to job sites. Apply chutes to the truck and align the chutes to distribute concrete where necessary.

Duties and responsibilities

• Perform pre-trip inspection according to DOT regulations. Must be able to kneel, reach, and maneuver under truck with approximately 2-feet of clearance to properly inspect and/or repair truck/trailer
• Must be able to climb ladder on the side of the truck to inspect/clean the drum/chutes
• Check all fluid levels daily, fill out daily maintenance checklist, and perform daily walk-around inspection, to include greasing as necessary, of equipment
• Report need for large repairs to appropriate parties
• Maintain driver’s log according to DOT regulations and complete timecards legibly and accurately
• Comply with company and DOT Drug & Alcohol regulations
• Comply with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) regulations
• Haul materials in a ready-mix truck
• Operate the truck to obtain the necessary consistency of concrete
• Follow supervisor’s instruction on material pickup and delivery procedures
• All other duties as assigned, delegated, or necessary for operations

Position Requirements

Qualifications

• Possess a valid Class A Commercial Driver License (Class A CDL)
• Must be legally able to drive a manual truck
• Ability to pass a pre-employment urine drug test and comply with drug and alcohol policies during employment

Working conditions

• Outdoor environment subject to changing conditions and temperatures
• Occasional exposures to fumes, dust, odors, heights, and loud noises
• 40+ hours per week

Physical requirements

• Verbal, auditory, and written capabilities to effectively communicate in an articulate manner
• Clarity of vision at varying distances to perform various work assignments
• Standing, walking, or sitting for extended periods of time
• Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a variety of specialized tools and equipment
• Reaching overhead, above the shoulders, and horizontally
• Occasional bending, kneeling, or crouching
• Lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling object(s) weighing up to 50 pounds
