The Center for Governance and Markets (CGM) at the University of Pittsburgh is seeking a full-time Research Assistant to support micro-level research on the intersection of global security, economics, and development. This position is ideal for individuals considering a career in research, offering the chance to engage in high-level studies while building both qualitative and quantitative research skills. It also provides valuable experience in administrative and project management tasks.
The Research Assistant should have an interest and background in the political economy of development. Responsibilities include conducting literature reviews, synthesizing data for academic and policy outputs, and supporting the collection and analysis of both qualitative and quantitative data from field research.
Key tasks include analyzing interviews, managing survey data collection, and coding data using qualitative analysis software (e.g., NVIVO, Atlas.ti, or MaxQDA). Quantitative analysis will involve the use of statistical software (e.g., Stata or R) to analyze datasets related. The position may also include opportunities to assist with managing and conducting qualitative field research in regions such as Latin America, Central Asia, the Middle East, Eastern Europe, and Sub-Saharan Africa.
This position is funded 100% from sponsored/non-university funds.

Primarily sedentary. Some travel may be required around campus to attend meetings and trainings. May have options for local or national travel.
