The University of Pittsburgh's Child Welfare Education and Research Programs is seeking a Child Welfare Training & Development Specialist. This specialist is responsible for developing, coordinating, delivering, evaluating, and enhancing the training and professional development opportunities for Allegheny County Department of Human Services, Office of Children, Youth and Families' staff. The specialist will facilitate training to newly hired caseworkers; provide education for agency staff based on new or enhanced practice initiatives and identified needs; and spearhead onboarding and ongoing professional development learning initiatives for non-casework support staff. This specialist is expected to initiate projects and processes
beyond established organizational expectations and norms including leading the creation and implementation of an onboarding learning framework for new support staff; creating, delivering; and/or coordinating ongoing learning opportunities aimed at professional development and capacity building that
are well grounded in workforce and staff development needs; and coaching to support professional development and growth. Qualified candidates must demonstrate competency using technology and learning software, as well as excellent interpersonal, organization, and leadership skills; initiative taking;
creativity; time management and the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, demanding, and ever changing environment. Candidates with prior staff development experience through instructor-led and on-line learning sessions, individual instruction, mentorship, and coaching are preferred.
Requirements include 5 years' experience with staff development and Child Welfare experience. Specialist should be knowledgeable of and comfortable facilitating critical conversations related to inequities in race, gender, & sexual orientation. This position is located at Allegheny County Office of Children, Youth and Families in Pittsburgh, PA with a home office in the Penn Hills community. Hybrid work occasionally permitted under a Flexible Work Agreement. Local travel required. Candidates who desire consideration for the position MUST apply online and attach a resume. Determines training needs, develops instructional programs to meet management and employee requirements, and conducts studies to determine program effectiveness. Coordinates and conducts courses and seminars and compiles training manuals and other aids.
Operate computers and other office equipment, communicate effectively with management contacts, perform under pressure of numerous deadlines, perform multiple job tasks and projects simultaneously, and perform job functions independently and with minimal supervision.
Must be able to travel long distances on a frequent basis, lift up to 30 pounds, set up and prepare audiovisual equipment for meetings and presentations, stand for up to 3 hours, and be able to climb stairs.
