Summer Intern Program duration: June 2 - August 8, 2025.




Location: Stamford, CT

The role will provide an opportunity to perform meaningful legal work on a variety of issues in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. You will have the opportunity to work with attorneys across the Webster Legal Department supporting and advising the array of bank business lines, enabling you to gain a stronger understanding of the legal profession in the banking industry.



Job Responsibilities:



Perform substantive legal research, writing, drafting and/or project-based work in the following areas:


  • Corporate Secretary/Governance/Shareholder Services


  • Bank Regulatory


  • Corporate Securities Filings


  • Vendor contracts


  • IP, Privacy & Cyber


  • Risk/Legal Operations


  • Litigation


  • Residential & Consumer Lending


  • Commercial Lending & Payments


Attend internal meetings with departments across the bank and interface with management, other legal staff, and Webster colleagues.


With supervision by a senior attorney, may be given responsibility for:


  • Generating first draft analyses of developing issues or responses to inquiries;


  • Developing written presentations to Webster colleagues;


  • Drafting Legal Department procedures or process documents;


  • Reviewing existing contracts for material information and input into contract management system; and


  • Developing reporting from legal billing software solution.


Work on other tasks as appropriate to support the Webster legal team where needed.



Education, Skills, and Experience Requirements for Interns:



  • Current undergraduate rising Junior or Senior enrolled in an accredited college or university who is pursuing a degree in related field and has an interest in the banking/financial services industry


  • Resourceful, enthusiastic, and proactive


  • Highly organized


  • Demonstrated strong attention to detail


  • Experience creating and delivering presentations


  • Strong written and verbal communication skills


  • Self-motivated with a strong work ethic


  • Ability to learn quickly and solve problems


  • Strong analytical skills


  • Collaborative and inclusive team player


  • Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint


  • Legally eligible to work in the U.S.


The estimated hourly range for this position is $20/hour USD to $22/hour USD. Actual salary may vary up or down depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location.
