The Poultry Service Technician works with contract growers (promoting a positive and productive relationship) to assist them in the best management and husbandry practices for maximum performance on their farms. This is a full-time exempt position and will require after hours emergency services.
Reporting Relationships
This position reports directly to the Live Production Manager. There are no supervisory responsibilities.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Makes weekly visits (or more if needed) to contract growers to access flock health and work with growers on company programs.
Completes service reports on each farm visit.
Maintains a healthy and respectful business relationship with each grower.
Understands production costs and grower's flock settlements.
Understands turkey house ventilation, water, and litter quality.
Understands management of turkey farms.
Understands ventilation controllers and programs installed on controllers.
Monitors the health of turkeys and diagnoses disease through observation, post-mortem examination and use of state animal labs.
Delivers and maintains medication and supplies inventory
Administers medication under the direction of a veterinary script
Communicates daily with production manager about any issues
Attends weekly production meetings.
Participates in educational meetings and seminars.
Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Minimum Requirements
Experienced poultry service technician.
College degree with a understanding of animal husbandry
Exceptional oral and written communication skills
Good driving record
Ability to manage multiple priorities

Physical Abilities
Able to kneel, bend, walk, stand, stoop, reach overhead, climb stairs/ladders, carrying and lifting of light to medium weight materials (up to 60 pounds).
Ability to work in an outdoor environment with climate variations
Requires visual acuity to read numbers, letters, and images; depth perception; hand and finger dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
Requires speaking and hearing ability sufficient to hear over phone and carry on routine conversations.
Work Environment
Exposure to farm environment including inclement weather.
