Responsibilities
Basic Purpose
Manages procurement of energy products, projects, and action plans supporting strategies for renewable energy, origination, project development, and smart infrastructure. Manages and supports various project elements to enhance value and reduce risk to customers. Designs, develops and delivers strategies and plans for commodity contract procurement, asset acquisition, and project development. Serves as a liaison between the company and external parties, as appropriate, regarding customer programs, legislative, regulatory and/or community issues.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Manages renewable energy programs, origination, Request for Proposals, and projects
Manages, supports, influences, facilitates all aspects of department programs including Requests for Proposals of various energy products and open seasons, asset acquisitions, counterparty commercial negotiations and project development.
Supports preparation of renewables related sections of regulatory (Integrated Resource Plan, General Rate Case, Compliance Directive responses, etc.) filings for leadership review.
Responsible for the negotiation of agreements and projects utilizing internal and external legal resources.
Provides technical oversight of Build Transfer Agreements, Power Purchase Agreements and Asset Purchase Agreements during pre-commercial phases, engineering, procurement and construction contracts and other Company development or origination activities.
Manages, supports, and facilitates inter-department and third party in the technical review and analysis of projects. Provides input and direction in the financial review and analysis of projects.
Manages renewable energy programs, program development, and program implementation strategy.
Responsible for and manages projects and origination involving conventional thermal generation assigned to the department.
Ensures departmental and Company compliance and success
Drives and ensures transactions are appropriately fed through the internal evaluation and approval process (structuring/pricing, risk management, accounting, credit, legal, and senior management).
Restructures existing contractual obligations and identifies opportunities for new transactions.
Establishes and develops relationships with key individuals and entities in the wholesale market place. Feeds market intelligence back into the organization.
Supplies internal consulting services to other segments of the corporation with respect to commodity issues surrounding custom retail transactions. Coordinates closely with resource optimization.
Collaborates with the Energy Supply business unit to analyze and incorporate renewable projects with corporate resource planning.
Implements and manages department procedures, standards, and best practices
Represents and promotes department and Company programs, products, and services
Represents Company to new and existing customers. Develops strategy and implements renewable energy solutions for customers.
Serves as a renewable representative for various community activities and regulatory and legislative matters as appropriate.
Provides testimony and support in regulatory proceedings as needed.
Ensures all compliance aspects of position are known and followed; understands and complies with all policies, codes and regulations applicable to position and company.
Performs related duties as assigned.
Requirements
Essential Education, Skills, and Environment Bachelor’s degree from an accredited school and 8 years of related experience in engineering or technical background with power plant, renewables, large commercial or industrial customers energy supply, compliance/regulatory/legislative/public policy, development, or Project Controls.
Candidates that do not possess a bachelor’s degree must have a minimum of 12 years of related experience in engineering or technical background with power plant, renewables, large commercial or industrial customers energy supply, compliance/regulatory/legislative/public policy, development, or Project Controls.
Specialized Knowledge and Skills Demonstrated knowledge of:
Renewable energy industry including counterparty negotiations, regulatory support, financial analysis, contracts and technologies.
Skills such as:
Technical writing, time management, communication, decision making, presentation, human relations, project management, planning, scheduling, organizational, motivation, and relationship building
Tracking records, multitasking, leading cross-functional teams, resolving problems in a timely manner, delivering results and interacting directly with end customers
Creates compelling business cases for new programs
Learning on the fly and applying knowledge to resolve problems in a timely manner
Negotiation using WSPP, EEI and ISDA Master Agreements
Establish and manage processes and networks associated with projects.
Equipment and Applications PCs, word processing, presentation, spreadsheet and database software.
Work Environment and Physical Demands General office environment. No special physical demands required. Some overnight travel is required.
Compensation
Annual Salary: $119,400 (Min) to $140,400 (Mid); Up to 15% Short Term Incentive Plan target opportunity at the discretion of the company. This is a non-represented position.
