DESCRIPTION OF WORK:
This position is responsible for supervising staff, managing the extra board, attendance tracking, and disposition of disciplinary actions.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

ESSENTIAL: 


  • Recruits staff to include interviewing, hiring, assigning work, training, coaching, and counseling to ensure consistent application of applicable regulations, Employee Guidelines, processes, and procedures.  Conducts first 30/60/90-day reviews for new employees and holds employees accountable for optimal performance of their responsibilities

  • Maintains a high level of morale and motivation within the department by mentoring, coaching and counseling bus operators and division supervisors.

  • Monitors feedback from Customer Care, Street Supervision, Event Recorders, and Ride Checks related to Bus Operator performance to ensure safety, reliability, schedule adherence and performance of service and staff.

  • Leads and coordinates in person communications related to attendance of Bus Operators.  Conducts feedback conversations to encourage a positive environment supporting the mission to “Make Lives Better Through Connections”.

  • Ensures office coverage in the division offices and promotes positive interactions with Bus Operators and Division Supervisors.  Supports the Operator Voting process for both Bus Operators and Supervisors to ensure CBA compliance and support when Operators are bidding work. Conducts Operator assignments for the system votes and annual vacations.

  • Answers questions regarding the CBA, Rule Book, Trailblazer, and other policies/procedures. Trains and assists operators with Workday login and Workday learning.

  • Leads and coordinates division tours in partnership with the training department.

OTHER:

  • All job-related duties, as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:


  • High School Diploma or GED. Associate degree in transportation, management of related field preferred.

  • A minimum of two years of experience as a full-time bus operator or supervisor

  • A minimum of two years in a supervisory role, transportation or logistics preferred

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS &ABILITIES

  • Valid Colorado CDL license

For current candidates/employees:

  • Demonstrated acceptable performance serving in a supervisory position over the past 24 months:

    - No warning letters in the employee file
    - Maximum of eight days absence (excluding Family/Medical Leave)
    - No “at-fault” accidents
    - No suspensions
    - No "Needs Improvement" ratings in annual evaluation


For current and external candidates/employees


  • Proficiency in organizational operations and procedures as they apply to operations, leadership and investigations., the CBA

  • Ability to work split shifts, nights, weekends and holidays

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.

  • Ability to use sound judgment.

  • Ability to manage time and workload effectively which includes planning, organizing, and prioritizing with attention to details.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

Pay Range:

$77,437.00 - $109,380.25 Annual
