Job Description:

The following duties are normal for this position. The incumbent may perform some or all of these duties, however; it is not an exclusive or all-inclusive list. Other duties may be assigned.

• Creates innovative packaging design solutions and produces samples to meet customer requirements


• Reviews sample requests for layout and planning of project with key stakeholders


• Effectively manages multiple packaging and folding carton design projects and provides ongoing status reports to key stakeholders


• Develop specifications and diagrams to be used for production orders on digital and traditional assets


• Creates set-up instructions and/or animations for end user


• Supports sales team including interaction with CPG customers and/or vendors


• Maintains stock inventory of key packaging substrates and evaluates possible stock alternatives


• Reviews in-process production orders to assure conformance to design functionality


• Facilitates or executes package testing as required


• Participates in packaging industry trade shows and events including set-up and/or professional development opportunities

Education & Experience

• Technical degree required, Bachelor's degree preferred (Preferred fields of Packaging Science or related field)


• Proficient in the use of current design software (i.e. Artios, SOLIDWORKS, Adobe Illustrator, etc.)


• Some relevant packaging design experience required

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Knowledge of the existing and planned approaches and methods for manufacturing packaging products or product components


• Knowledge of methodologies, tools and techniques for designing, building and managing the manufacture of new packaging designs


• Knowledge of the methodology and associated phases, activities and deliverables for the design of new products and the enhancement of existing products; ability to apply the methodology in diverse scenarios


• Knowledge of the methodology and associated phases, activities and deliverables for manufacturing new or enhancing existing products


• Ability to design, plan and execute testing strategies and tactics to ensure packaging product quality

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

• Primarily works in an office environment with occasional time spent in a production and/or warehouse setting


• Occasional travel required


• Frequent lifting up to 25 lbs., occasional lifting up to 50 lbs.
