The Role The Project Manager will coordinate front-end work leading up to the capital design phase of the project, lead the development of overall project scope, execution strategy, and cost estimate for funds request, and lead preparation of the funding documents for the project. The role involves assembling a team of qualified personnel, establishing project controls, managing cost, schedule, and scope, and executing the project while meeting safety, cost, and schedule goals.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Key responsibilities:
Coordinate front-end work leading up to the capital design phase of the project.
Lead the development of overall project scope, execution strategy, and cost estimate for funds request.
Lead preparation of the funding documents for the project working with the Project Team, Site Area Personnel, and Finance Group.
Based on project requirements, assemble a team of qualified personnel of various disciplines to execute the project.
Establish project controls approach for the project and manage cost, schedule, and scope within corporate guidelines.
Lead decisions on contracting strategy and selection of contractor(s).
Prepare progress reports as needed.
Perform engineering review as required.
Execute the project while meeting safety, cost, and schedule goals.
Provide services and support for pre-startup and commissioning activities.
Responsible for final close-out reporting and all documentation required for the project.

Expected:
Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering.
10+ years of industry-related experience managing Instrument, Electrical, or Controls-centric capital projects.
Demonstrated knowledge of successful project management practices such as stage & gate, cost control, estimating, scheduling, and forecasting.
Able to plan and organize projects from inception to start-up.
Ability to work in and foster a strong team environment with minimal supervision.
Knowledge of and experience with the instrumentation and electrical technology currently being used in the chemical manufacturing industry.
Strong safety champion who will lead the project in achieving zero incidents and injuries.
Self-motivated/Self-directed.
Able to handle multiple activities simultaneously.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Good negotiation skills.
Good meeting facilitation skills.
Good working knowledge of the procurement process.
Strong working knowledge of SAP Project Systems Module (preferable).
Knowledge of ASME, API, AISC, PIP, ASCE, RAGAGEPs, and other pertinent engineering standards.
