Job Summary

The Enterprise Cloud Architect primary responsibility will be to take Murphy to public cloud by transforming legacy applications to Cloud Native and Event Driven Architecture. We are looking for a strategic thinker, thought leader and problem solver as part of our Enterprise Architecture team to drive the standards and reference architecture across the organization.

This role will collaborate across architects, engineers, and business partners in the enterprise and drive simplified and modern architecture on the cloud to reduce our technical debt and bring agility to the business platforms. The Cloud Architect will be part of the Enterprise Architecture team with a focus on Cloud Platform Architecture working closely with Cloud Engineering, on premise storage, compute and network in addition to collaborating with Service Desk and Application domain teams.

The Enterprise Cloud Architect will also work as part of a team responsible for VM and physical server instances, Windows Server operating system, Red Hat Linux operating system, Domain controllers, Active Directory, Backup & Recovery and related infrastructure technologies, designing and supporting server solutions to meet Murphy's requirements.

This role will work in our Houston Corporate office and may work two (2) days a week remote.

Responsibilities


  • Develop complex enterprise solution designs, standards, patterns, strategies, and roadmaps.
  • Perform regular reviews of proposed solution designs against standards and best practices.
  • Demonstrate expertise in Azure, Active Directory, and EntraID.
  • Architect secure application integrations between systems and cloud platforms.
  • Evaluate commercial products for functionality and requirements.
  • Implement and manage information governance strategies and sensitivity labels.
  • Monitor progress and implementation of initiatives with project management teams.
  • Enhance existing enterprise solutions, infrastructure, and services.
  • Extract and refine technical requirements into resilient designs.
  • Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies for application integrations. 1
  • Manage multiple high-priority initiatives concurrently.
  • Develop an enterprise integration strategy and roadmap.
  • Architect advanced integration frameworks for data exchange.
  • Lead API management strategies, including lifecycle management.
  • Develop a comprehensive data integration plan with ETL processes.
  • Spearhead the adoption of microservices architecture and serverless computing.
  • Establish metrics for system performance and drive continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align projects with business goals.
  • Responsible for design, architecture, development, and hands-on implementation of cloud solutions
  • Serve as a Cloud technical resource in team's efforts to determine the needs of our client's businesses that will simplify and automate the applications as well as make them more efficient
  • Align solutions with standards and best practices working with cross-functional engineering and consulting teams; should be an expert in Azure cloud
  • Perform risk analysis & create mitigation strategies for continuous evaluation and validation or system design and architecture
  • Establish strong and lasting relationships with key stakeholders and decision makers in internal IT and business community
Licenses/ Certifications


  • Azure certification or any cloud certification
  • Solution Architect certification will be preferred
Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution is required
  • Minimum 10 years' experience in information technology with minimum 5 years as a Solutions or Systems Architect and equal experience as an Infrastructure Lead
  • Experience with Azure Cloud and Cloud native solutions and DevSecOps
  • 5+ years working in an Agile environment
  • Advanced knowledge of distributed software systems, design patterns and architecture principles
The individual is required to follow all applicable safety precautions. Work is performed almost entirely in a controlled (i.e., inside) environment and does not typically subject the incumbent to any hazardous/extreme elements; some positions may require regularly moving or transporting items weighing up to 25 lbs. around the office for various needs. The successful candidate must be able to complete all essential physical requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.

Desired/Preferred Qualifications


  • Master's degree preferred from an accredited institution
  • Experience decomposing application components and determining how to leverage various technologies found with modern cloud services
  • Experience with service-oriented architecture, web services, and Application Programming Interfaces
  • Experience taking disparate business problems and delivering the best technology solutions for large scale applications
  • Experience with Advanced Analytics, Data Science, including MI, ML, or RPA, Integration, API, Microservices, and User Experience
  • Experience with project management
  • Experience as an Infrastructure Lead
