I&E Technician (Contract) at American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) in Knoxville, Tennessee

Job Description:

Contract position located in Kingsport, TN. The Asset Integrity Management (AIM) Technician is an integral member of the project team responsible for verifying Instrumentation & Electrical items are identified and depicted correctly on process drawings such as Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) and Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).


What You Will Do:

• Verify process I&E equipment technical data including:
  • Process safety information
  • Engineering design documents and drawings
  • Maintenance records
  • Inspection records
  
  
• Develop baseline and redline field sketches for various technical drawings
  • Process flow diagrams (PFDs)
  • Piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs)
  • Inspection isometric drawings for fixed equipment, piping, and I&E devices
  
  
• Verify that I&E items (i.e.: local instruments, electronic devices, control valves) are identified and depicted correctly on the P&IDs.
• Populate various spreadsheets for mechanical integrity projects
  • Populate master equipment list (MEL) spreadsheets by reviewing available materials of construction and design data for I&E equipment (i.e.: local instruments, electronic devices, control valves) as indicated in manufacturer's specifications, piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), fabrication, or general arrangement drawings as well as I&E specifications
  
  
• Provide critical feedback to project management when cost or scheduling issues are recognized

What You Will Need:


Education and Experience

• Required: High school diploma or equivalent
• Must have a minimum of 5 years (preferably 10 years) of I&E process experience in a plant environment or other relevant technical experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• General knowledge of and experience working in refineries and chemical plants
• General knowledge of I&E components used in pressure vessels, heat exchangers, storage tanks, and piping systems
• General knowledge of processes in refineries and chemical plants
• Working knowledge and practical experience with I&E symbols on P&IDs
• Understanding of the ABS Health, Safety, Quality & Environmental Management System

Reports to PMO Supervisor or above
