The Safety Coordinator is responsible for providing leadership, with respect to all safety and compliance related job requirements. This individual acts as the primary contact and must be willing to support company-wide continuous safety excellence. The Coordinator plays a critical role in improving the overall safety culture of the workplace, including assessing safety, enforcing safety standards, and educating employees.
“The compensation range for this role is $68,000/yr to $90,000/yr, in addition to KENT standard benefits (health, dental, vision, 401k). Final compensation is subject to variation based on the candidate's skills, job responsibilities, location and other pertinent factors.”
PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Primary site safety contact for internal and external stakeholders (Kent employees, contractors, OSHA, DNR, EPA, etc.).
Promote safety engagement by actively promoting and supporting safety network initiatives.
Maintain the emergency response plan including monthly safety equipment inspections (safety showers, e-lights, forklifts, cranes/hoists, fire extinguishers, fall protection, PPE, etc.).
Coordinate and participate in incident investigations including creating, assigning, and tracking action items to completion.
Maintain the incident reporting program (injury, illness, near-miss, unsafe conditions, safety observations and suggestions)
Create and implement safety plans while ensuring that they are being followed daily.
Coordinate/attend safety walkthroughs and inspections before and during each project to analyze safety risks.
Provide training on safety standards and expectations as well as safe machinery operation.
Maintain documentation of the company's safety procedures, accidents, and related events.
Manage area Hazard Communication (labels, MSDSs, chemical inventory).
All other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS:
Associates degree in Safety Science, Engineering, or related discipline preferred
2+ years’ experience in Manufacturing operations
Working knowledge of safety regulations is preferred
EXPERIENCE:
Experience in ISO 9000 and lean manufacturing a plus.
Demonstrates a high level of understanding of OSHA, EPA, Industrial Hygiene, ANSI, NFPA, and DOT standards and the ability to apply them.
Experience with PowerPoint, Excel, and auditor safety software
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking and presentation.
Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities at the same time while meeting deadlines.
Interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish effective professional relationships with employees, contractors, and outside agencies.
Leadership skills, such as the ability to motivate a team and provide feedback.
