Manages and coordinates the activities of workers engaged in landscape and grounds. Directs landscape and grounds and establishes priorities to ensure efficient and timely completion of landscape and grounds projects. Also responsible for assisting the Director of Landscape and Grounds Services with providing customer-oriented leadership and overseeing overall operation, administration, and performance of the landscape and grounds functions for Facilities Management
Responsibilities:
Manages, trains, and mentors front-line team members and supervisors within landscaping and grounds to ensure they perform their duties safely and efficiently.
Assigns work orders and ensures correct materials and time are charged.
Manages contractors and other outside vendors on scheduled projects.
Plans and oversees landscaping and grounds projects from conception to completion, including budgeting, scheduling, and coordinating resources.
Serves as the primary point of contact for clients, addressing concerns and ensuring the delivery of high-quality landscaping services.
Regularly inspects landscaping and grounds work to ensure it meets organizational standards for quality, safety, and aesthetics.
Oversees the management of equipment, tools, and supplies, ensuring they are properly maintained and stocked.
Exercises independent judgement while ensuring correct plant material for annual planting, specialized plants, and landscape equipment are purchased.
Performs administrative duties, assisting Director with overseeing over $3 million annual budget.
Develops and maintains landscaping and grounds procedures and policies.
Implement strategic initiatives and oversight of landscape and grounds, such as training programs, quality assurance programs, and process efficiencies this includes training staff on taking care of grounds, planting flowers, and transplanting and pruning of trees and shrubbery.
Assists in budgeting and ensure efficient use of resources to meet cost constraints while maintaining high standards.
Ensures all work is performed in compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
Manages daily schedules for the landscaping team to optimize workflow and to meet deadlines.
Serves as hiring manager for all landscape positions and makes final recommendations on staff performance reviews, disciplinary actions, etc.
Prepares regular reports on the progress of landscaping and grounds projects, employee performance, and equipment maintenance and provides department leadership with updates.
Serves as the department area director in their absence.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Education: High school diploma or GED, AND:
5 years of landscape experience with 12 months in a leadership position
Skills:
Working knowledge of plants and flowers native to Oklahoma weather conditions
Through knowledge of plant materials and landscaping including sustainable landscaping techniques
Must be willing to work outdoors in various weather conditions
Ability to use computer and software to design floral and plant bed layout
Highly organized and ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines
Ability to communicate verbally and in writing
Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
Must have strong ability to lead teams
Must be able to create and deliver effective training presentations
Certifications:
Valid Driver's License

Ability to walk regularly for long periods of time across the campus
Ability to sit for long periods of time
Ability to use and reach with hands and arms regularly
Ability to climb using a ladder or balance frequently
Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, and crawl occasionally
Ability to use the tools of the trade
Ability to lift 50 lbs. regularly and 75 lbs. occasionally
Some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions
Exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises
