Position Overview:This position performs both general maintenance and repair duties as well as specialized plumbing work. Responsibilities also encompass light carpentry, basic electrical, HVAC, grounds maintenance, furniture arrangement, waste/recycling management, and event setups. The role ensures customer needs are met while adhering to all University policies and procedures. Coordination with outside contractors and supervision of others may be required. This position works with minimal supervision.
Job Duties:
Supervise student workers.
Perform skilled plumbing duties in residence halls, dining facilities, and apartment buildings.
Conduct general maintenance duties, including light carpentry, preventative maintenance, and equipment repair.
Repair locks, hardware, cabinet doors, drawers, and interior/exterior doors.
Utilize basic knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and other systems to diagnose and communicate repair needs.
Perform routine maintenance and repairs to furniture, appliances, and other property in residential facilities.
Assist with moving furniture and other items for residence halls, apartments, and related facilities.
Maintain waste/recycling receptacles and assist with setups for events.
May be required to respond to after-hours emergencies, work as an essential employee during campus closures, and work varying shifts.
Qualifications/Experience Required:General education or vocational training and 2 years' experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Experience in plumbing work is required.Must have a valid driver's license, clean driving record, and be able to operate a typical motor vehicle.
Qualifications/Experience Preferred:Plumber's licensure a plus. Supervisory experience preferred.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Ability to successfully supervise others, coordinate schedules, and oversee the work of a team of student employees.
Skilled in plumbing work, repairs, and maintenance.
Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Proficiency in painting, general carpentry, electrical, and other general maintenance.
Familiarity with tools, techniques, and materials used in maintenance and repair.
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in environments with fumes, airborne particles, or toxic chemicals.
Strong communication skills (oral and written).
