Job Overview:



We are seeking an experienced Lead Accountant to oversee and strengthen our client's accounting operations. This role is pivotal in managing the installation of internal controls, leading the migration to Sage 100 (2024 version), overseeing audits, preparing tax filings, and handling operational accounting tasks The ideal candidate will bring hands-on expertise in financial management, compliance, and process improvement to ensure the company's financial health and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:




Financial Oversight & Compliance:

• Develop and implement internal controls to enhance financial accuracy and regulatory compliance.


• Oversee the audit process, liaising with external auditors and ensuring adherence to GAAP and industry regulations.


• Ensure accurate and timely tax filings (federal, state, and local), working with tax professionals as needed.

System Migration & Process Improvement:

• Lead the migration to Sage 100 (2024 version), ensuring smooth implementation, data integrity, and staff training.


• Optimize accounting workflows to improve efficiency and reporting accuracy.


• Establish best practices for financial reporting and reconciliation.

Operational Accounting & Reporting:

• Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger maintenance.


• Prepare and analyze financial statements, budgets, and cash flow forecasts.


• Assist in job costing, inventory management, and revenue recognition specific to HVAC projects.


• Work closely with project managers to ensure accurate financial tracking of HVAC installations and service contracts.

Leadership & Collaboration:

• Supervise and mentor junior accounting staff, fostering a culture of accountability and excellence.


• Partner with executive leadership to provide financial insights that support strategic decision-making.


• Collaborate with departments to ensure alignment between financial processes and operational goals.

Qualifications & Skills:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.


• 5+ years of accounting experience, preferably in the construction or HVAC industry.


• Expertise in Sage 100 (or similar ERP systems), GAAP, and financial reporting.


• Strong knowledge of internal controls, audits, and tax compliance.


• Hands-on experience in operational accounting (AP, AR, payroll, reconciliations, etc.).


• Exceptional analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to multitask.


• Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to train and mentor teams.
