The Development Director cultivates and solicits major gifts and grants from individuals, foundations and others. The Director is also responsible for providing leadership and direction to staff in support of resource development.

Some of our recent projects include the modernization of our Emergency Department.
In January 2023, JHMC/MediSys Health Network and MSKCC announced a new collaboration to enhance cancer care in Queens. It is envisioned that MSKCC will assist JHMC in building its own oncology program and related staffing through strategic recruitment and leveraging JMHCs many strengths, so it can address most of the oncologic care across the multidisciplinary cancer care continuum for the community it serves, while providing patients access to specialty care, services, and clinical trials not available at JHMC our affiliation with Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.
In addition to our other accolades, Jamaica Hospitals Comprehensive Stroke Center has also received the Healthgrades Neuroscience Excellence Award from 2019 to 2022 and the Stroke Care Excellence Award from 2017 to 2022. The American Heart Association has also recognized stroke care at Jamaica Hospital with the Gold Plus award in 2021 and 2022.
Position Responsibilities:
Develop and implement a strategic plan for single and multi-year development efforts.
Research agency, corporate, individual and foundation donor base and recommend solicitation strategies.
Oversee and execute all aspects of fund-raising events for a two-hospital system: (Jamaica Hospital and Flushing Hospital) including annual dinner-dances and golf outing
Develop institutional fundraising initiatives, such as endowments, major gifts and planned giving and naming opportunities.
Required Skills:
Bachelors Degree required, Certificate in fundraising management preferred
Considerable knowledge of fundraising techniques and sources of funding for nonprofit hospitals
Established portfolio of potential donors
Proficient in fundraising software, e.g. Razors Edge
