Visiting Assistant Professor of Computer Science
Kenyon College seeks to fill a two-year visiting position at the assistant professor level in the interdisciplinary Program in Computing beginning in July 2025. The program embraces computing in many disciplinary areas across the College - our current steering committee consists of a biologist, a visual artist, a computer scientist, an economist, a mathematician, a political scientist, and a physicist, all of whom thoroughly integrate computing in their teaching and scholarship.
We seek someone with a PhD in computer science (ABD considered) for whom the prospect of working in a collaborative, thoroughly interdisciplinary program sounds appealing. All areas of specialty will be considered. Prior teaching experience at a US college or university or an equivalent institution is strongly preferred. The typical teaching load is five courses per year. Kenyon has a strong commitment to student-centered learning; thus, we will be particularly interested in candidates with active learning techniques. There would be the opportunity, but not an obligation, to design and teach specialized interdisciplinary courses in addition to more traditional disciplinary courses.
Kenyon College, home to an increasingly diverse student body of about 1800 and located on an idyllic campus in rural central Ohio (about an hour from Columbus), is ranked in the top tier of national liberal arts colleges and has a reputation for outstanding teaching and scholarship.
