Production Process Engineer - Silica Materials is located on site at the Martin, SC facility with occasional domestic and international travel required to meet business needs.
Martin, South Carolina is in Allendale County bordering the beautiful Savannah River. A community rich in history with over 50 historical sites to visit. Stunning farms cover the landscape in this agricultural community.
Your Role:
EMD Electronics is a leader in the Silica business, dedicated to delivering innovative solutions and exceptional quality. EMD is currently seeking a results driven EHS Process Engineer to join our team at the Martin, SC plant.
The EHS Process Engineer is responsible for all aspects of health, safety, security, and environmental programs at the EMD Site in Martin, SC. This includes responsibility for Safety and Environmental ISO certification, program development, implementation, sustainability, reporting, and auditing that are consistent with industrial agencies and corporate standards. The EHS Process Engineer is also responsible for managing and auditing for adherence to policies, regulations, and processes related to health, safety, security, and environmental topics. In addition, he/she will identify and manage site risks and improve performance in these areas at the site level.
Key Responsibilities:
Support the implementation of company EHS strategy and goals on site.
Support compliance with EHS regulations and Corporate EHS policies, standards, and procedures.
Control compliance status by internal audits and supervision.
Provide EHS statements for investments.
Provide and document EHS information and performance data on site level.
Foster continuous improvement
Advise the local leadership on EHS topics.
Assure and maintain the EHS program.
Lead investigation for accidents and injuries to determine root cause(s) and preventive measures.
Provide training for employees, monitors compliance.
Maintain liaisons with outside organizations such as corporate safety, occupational health providers, and emergency response teams to assure proper response when needed.
Organize and perform safety drills.
Compile, analyze, and interpret site safety data to develop continuous improvement plans for the site.
Who You Are
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in environmental safety, Occupational Safety and Health or an Engineering/ Science or related discipline and 5+ years' experience in HSSE, process safety and/or industrial hygiene or similar type role.
OR
Master's degree in environmental safety, Occupational Safety and Health or an Engineering/ Science or related discipline and 3+ years' experience in HSSE, process safety and/or industrial hygiene or similar type role.
3+ years of direct experience in safety management processes (LOTO & Energy Isolation, Work Permitting, Electrical, PPE, etc.)
Previous experience working in a chemical, manufacturing, or production industry.
Preferred Qualifications:
OHSA 10/30 or HAZWOPER certifications
Knowledge of environmental regulations and policies
Knowledge and experience in statistical methods and continual improvement processes
Ability to respond to deviations in the daily work schedule.
Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills
Initiative-taking individual able to work independently with minimal supervision.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
