1st Shift Machine Operator (CNC) II at Maysteel in Garland, Texas

Job Description:

SUMMARY OF CLASSIFICATION:

 

This description summarizes the requirements of a CNC level II employee performing in the CNC punch press and turret classifications. Perform both routine and complex set-up operations of the following related to CNC punch/turret press. Assist department supervisor and manufacturing engineers in development and tryout of new tools, equipment, and new or experimental processes.

 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.


  • Maintain Safe Work Environment (i.e., personal protective equipment, proper lifting techniques, etc.).

  • Understands all safety aspects of the machine.

  • Has full knowledge and inspection practice to ensure conformance to quality department specifications.

  • Inform management or lead of any part or equipment defects to ensure prompt response to the problem.

  • Perform daily preventive maintenance on machine.

  • Use Epicor ERP to log into and out of jobs.

  • Start up and stop the equipment.

  • Proficient in setting up and running machine.

  • Able to meet production goals.

  • Knowledge of the tools, instrumentation, and calibration equipment.

  • Clean production area, including but not limited to sweeping, mopping, and removing debris.

  • Load and unload items from machines, carts, and dollies.

  • Feed or place items onto equipment for processing.

  • Ensure conformance to specifications.

  • Mark parts for identification.

  • Place parts on proper item for processing at next step (Tote, Table, Pallet etc..)

  • Scrape waste material from machine.

  • Read and interpret gauges.

  • Record data.

  • Take instructions from management and lead person.


  • Conserve resources and supplies to facilitate minimum waste.

  • Select proper fillers for jobs based on previous experience or project instructions.

  • Work from routings, manufacturing instruction sheets, blueprints, visual aids, or other instructions to manufacture product at required quality levels. 

  • Assemble components accurately, thoroughly, and quickly to approved specifications.

  • Recommend and select proper tooling for required tasks, as well as recommend productive process changes.

  • Will assist in training new employees. 

  • Perform basic inspection and SPC for measuring product quality as it relates to job skill.

  • Can work without supervision.

  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

 

 

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: 

 

A high school diploma, GED, or equivalency.  

Experience with power and hand tools is recommended.

Basic math and communication skills required.

 

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to lift, carry, push, pull, grip, and grasp up to 35 lbs.  Employees also frequently bend, twist, and reach and may stand and/or walk up to 8-10 hours per day. 

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

 

While performing the duties of this job, the noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high. Job consists of working in a manufacturing facility. Job could consist of making changes by hand or by running machinery equipment. Will receive objects or parts on conveyer belt, be responsible for your portion of the job, and then pass materials down conveyer belt or to next worker.
