This team maintains a portfolio invested in commercial real estate, agricultural mortgages, and real estate equities. The Real Estate Investments team sources and manages commercial real estate investments through seven regional field offices in the U.S. and International field offices in London, Tokyo, Mexico City, and Santiago.



Responsibilities



This position is responsible for a wide range of functions specific to the risk management of a global real estate $40B equity portfolio and $65B diversified debt portfolio. This includes analyzing and approving the property and casualty coverages for major debt transactions, acting as a liaison to Corporate Insurance, and communicating frequently with Borrowers' representatives and/or insurance brokers, service administrators, and senior management. The position will also include functional responsibilities related to the overall risk management group:

• Review insurance requirements for mortgage loan closings.


• Review and advise on insurance requirements in leases, deeds of trust, applications, contracts and other legal documents.


• Assist in marketing and procurement of Property/Liability insurance programs covering various managed accounts and Fund investments.


• Analyze and monitor Joint Venture investments to ensure all exposures are insured appropriately.


• Review loss history; develop and administer risk management and loss prevention programs for the company's equity investments.


• Maintain insurance requirement exception report.


• Oversee the Servicers' monitoring of the borrowers' insurance to ensure ongoing compliance with our closing requirements.


• Respond to any insurance compliance questions from the Servicers.


• Assist in the process for the annual collection of values on various insurance programs.


• Analyze the impact of new deals on event risk insurance coverage through the use of event risk software.


• Participate in and maintain relationships with industry peer groups and insurance standard-making organizations that impact the company.


• Provide advice and guidance to regional office teams, borrowers, partners, portfolio investment committees, and Senior Management.

Qualifications

• BA in Business Administration, Finance, Risk Management, or related fields required.


• Minimum of five years' experience of property and liability insurance coverage experience in a risk management or brokerage capacity.


• Working knowledge of insurance coverages is required.


• Ability to analyze leases, property management contracts, indemnification, and risk transfer techniques, including construction projects.


• CPCU, ARM, and/or other insurance designations preferred.


• Experience in real estate management and mortgage lending contracts.


• Property and liability claim handling is a plus.


• Excellent analytical, project management, and problem-solving skills.


• Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing with all levels of management.


• Excellent interpersonal skills.


• Ability to work independently as well as a team player.


• Ability to work under extreme time constraints, manage efficiently, and perform multiple projects simultaneously.

Position located in Whippany, NJ (hybrid schedule: 3 days on-site)
Travel varies as needed, approximately 5% of work time annually.
