The salary range posted represents the low and high end of OSI's salary range for this position. Salaries will vary based on various factors, including but not limited to, location, education, skills, experience and performance. Base salary is one component of OSI's overall total rewards package. Other components may include bonuses, special pay programs, comprehensive time off, 401k with match and a full suite of benefit offerings for you and your family.

This role is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing all engineering, project, and maintenance related activities for the OSI Tipton plant. Responsible for supervising a group of employees involved in plant maintenance activities. Oversee hiring, training, assistance, performance evaluation, grievances, company rules, morale, compensation, and changes in employee status for maintenance employees.

Job Responsibilities


  • Plan, coordinate and execute all capital and major expense projects performed in the Tipton facility in a cost-effective manner in accordance with corporate and production requirements.
  • Administer the contractor safety program and perform required contractor training in plant rules, safety, and HAACP requirements. Coordinate and manage all contractors performing project work at the facility.
  • Provide technical assistance to both the production and maintenance departments; diagnose and make recommendations to eliminate production problems and to improve operating effectiveness through more efficient use and care of equipment.
  • Assist in vendor selections, cost negotiations, and approve invoicing.
  • Research, implement and recommend improvements to building, utilities and plant equipment to reduce costs, improve product, improve efficiencies, and improve the general safety of the plant.
  • Actively identify and initiate process improvements to positively impact financial viability, service and product quality, and customer satisfaction.
  • Monitor utilities usage, diagnose excessive consumption rates and implement procedures to minimize costs.
  • Work closely with plant personnel to develop capital appropriation budget and provide input on engineering, purchasing and installation requirements for capital projects.
  • Utilizing AutoCAD, design equipment, building and plant utility layouts as required and retain past, present, and future layouts on file.
  • Serve as the PSM Coordinator for the facility. Execute documented management of change for all ammonia equipment and system changes. Update system drawings, SOP's, training records, equipment history, and any other required documentation as needed. Ensure external audit are performed recommendations are completed on schedule. Manage all contractors performing external mechanical integrity inspections to include procurement of all certifications, coordination and direction of all work performed, and performing necessary work audits. Coordinate training of internal employees on all changes made to the system.
  • Manage the applicable regulatory, governmental, safety, environmental programs for the plant. That includes monitoring plant performance, completion of required monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, and annual inspections, and submission of environmental reports for air, water, and hazardous chemicals.
  • Prepare reports on departmental activities as requested.
  • Participates in departmental and interdepartmental planning and management teams and work cross-functionally to improve processes within the organization and assist other OSI facilities as required.
  • Coordinate or conduct maintenance training as required.
  • This role has the responsibility to understand and places in practice appropriate safety procedures. This responsibility is achieved through education, training, use of protective equipment (as applicable) and by following safety policies, regulations, standards, and laws.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Experience & Skills


  • 5-10 years of experience in related field is preferred.
  • Excellent proficiency in all Microsoft Office Suite Products.
  • Refrigeration experience highly desirable.

Education


  • BA/BS or equivalent is preferred.

Work Environment


  • Work can be performed within a manufacturing plant environment with noise, extreme temperatures, and significant movement of powered equipment, people and conveyors (may depend on the role).
  • Work conditions are typical of a food manufacturing facility.
  • This role does not require any domestic travel.
  • Position may require the physical agility of lifting up to 15 pounds.
  • Position may require frequent and/or infrequent of bending, squatting, pushing, pulling, stretching/reaching, use hands or fingers, talk, hear, feel objects, tools, controls and standing/walking on concrete flooring.
  • Position may require the physical ability to stand/walk for Less than 4 hours.
