Applications accepted for the position of:Meter Reader FUNCTION:Enter meter readings for commercial and residential electric, water, and sprinkler meters into a handheld mobile computer. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: 1 Read electric, water, and sprinkler meters 2 Report damaged or leaking meters and any evidence of illegal usage 3 Re-read meters for negative, high, or low consumption 4 Perform maintenance check of the assigned vehicle each week and submit inspection log weekly; schedule routine maintenance to vehicle 5 Provide information as to conditions and directions to meters; maintain equipment in good working order (i.e. meter tubes, pumps, shovels, ladders, etc.) 6 Report any unsafe conditions in reading areas 7 All other duties as assigned The primary responsibilities only include essential functions of the job and do not imply that these are the only duties to be performed by the employee occupying this position. Employees will be required to follow any other job-related instructions and to perform any other job-related duties requested by the supervisor or management. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS: 1 High school diploma or equivalent plus some course work or computer training beyond high school 2 1-2 years of related experience in an office environment, preferably including some customer contact 3 Texas Drivers License PHYSICAL EFFORT: 1 This position requires a good deal of walking, bending, and stooping 2 Pumping water meters, using binoculars, meter tubes, and occasionally ladders Salary Range - $17.77/hr plus benefits Full-Time Employment To apply, you must submit a City of Greenville/GEUS application form.
