Support the NIDA research project in the labs of Drs. Trudy Mackay and Robert Anholt.
JOB DUTIES:
60% - Essential - Perform behavioral phenotypic analysis on Drosophila to determine the genetic basis of variation in consumption and preference of cocaine and morphine.
40% - Essential - Assist staff scientists, postdoctoral researchers and graduate students as time allows. This will entail maintaining Drosophila stocks, collecting samples for next generation sequencing, and performing phenotypic assays
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education - High School or Equivalent and work experience in a clinical or research setting Work Experience 0+ years
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
Education - Bachelor's Degree - Genetics and/or Molecular Biology Work Experience 1+ years, prior experience with Drosophila is desirable but not necessary
RESPONSIBILITIES:
JOB KNOWLEDGE Fundamental Job Knowledge - Fundamental working knowledge of concepts, practices and procedures and ability to apply in varied situations
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES No Supervisory Duties - Not responsible for supervising employees.
BUDGETARY RESPONSIBILITIES No Budget Responsibilities - No fiscal responsibility for the department's budget.
