Seeking a motivated and independent temporary worker primarily to assist the City's Pretreatment Technician. Full-time, up to 40 hours per week. Up to a maximum six months.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Assists with pretreatment program tasks as assigned.
Assists with inspection of grease interceptors, industrial facilities, fresh fruit packers, illicit wastewater discharges and more.
Assists with industrial facility and sewer system sampling via manholes or other sewer access points.
Performs data entry and maintenance. Updates GIS and Excel spreadsheets.
Assists with public outreach and education.
Maintains a clean work environment.
Adheres to established safety procedures and utilizes safety equipment as required.
Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
High School Diploma or GED and completion of college level courses.
Lawful and active WA Driver License.
Proficiency in office equipment and Microsoft Office software including Excel.
Work experience in utilities preferred.
Bilingual, English and Spanish, language abilities preferred.
Prefers knowledge of:
Sewer utilities.
Wastewater regulations and pollution prevention.
General biology, chemistry or environmental science.
Requires the ability to:
Consistently represent the City by maintaining a professional demeanor in all activities.
Use appropriate PPE and safety equipment and follow safety policies, practices and procedures.
Work outside in all weather conditions and seasonal temperature ranges.
Be attentive to detail and maintain a high degree of data entry accuracy.
Reach with hands and arms. Ambulate up and down ladders and stairs. Occasionally climb or balance, stoop, kneel, bend and twist at waist, crouch or crawl.
Work in close quarters and confined spaces. Descend up to 20 feet below.
Lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
BENEFITS
The City of Wenatchee has adopted a policy measuring the 'full-time' status of temporary employees over 12-months for purposes of benefit eligibility. Temporary employees with assignments less than 6-months are not eligible for benefits with exception of participation in the WA State Department of Retirement System (DRS) as long as DRS eligibility requirements are met (compensated for at least 70 hours per month for five months in a 12-month period). There will be no retroactivity applied to benefits or any other employment terms and conditions should regular employment be offered at a future date.
