Engineering Technician - 2nd shift at Vactor Manufacturing in Streator, Illinois

Job Description:

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: 


  • Understand and mark corrections to electrical and hydraulic schematics found during prototype builds.

  • Program chassis engines and transmission electronic control units to Vactor/Guzzler specifications.

  • Make parameter modifications to Vactor controller programs and upload same to production trucks.

  • Check chassis upon arrival for function and ability to interface with Vactor/Guzzler modules (controls, PTO’s, transfer cases, etc.)

  • Troubleshoot electrical and hydraulic problems on units, utilizing Vactor diagnostic system, if available.

  • Design, build, and test prototype electrical and hydraulic components and systems.

  • Assist the Service Department by consulting with dealers and/or instructing department personnel.

  • Provide technical assistance and schematic interpretation to shop personnel.

  • Research and document technical information about chassis electrical and power train systems.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:


  • Strong mechanical, electrical and hydraulic background with troubleshooting skills.

  • Good written and oral communication skills and interpersonal skills

  • Knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic circuits and components.

  • Good Computer Skills (Word, Excel, spreadsheets)

  • Must be able to obtain a CDL. (Will be required within the 1st year.) 

  • Strong Product Knowledge               

EDUCATION REQUIRED:   High school diploma or equivalent required; vocational training desired.

Salary Range for this position is $35-39/hr
