Role Overview The Special Needs Ministry Coordinator is responsible for giving leadership to our special needs ministry, ages birth through adults, in our growing and diverse community as part of our mission to Spread Gods Fame by Making Disciples of all People. An obvious passion for serving special needs individuals and families for Christ is essential. This position reports to the Grow Pastor. Job ClassificationPart-time, non-exempt. ScheduleMonday through Thursday Approximately 10 12 hours per week during office hours, Monday Thursday 8 AM and 5 PM. Tuesday Staff Meetings 3pm. Weekly team meeting. Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday Approximately 8 10 hours per week during ministry events and worship services. *The schedule for this position may vary depending upon weekend assignments and ministry events that occur on evenings and weekends. Compensation $25.00 per hour Responsibilities and Expectations Give leadership to a Christ-centered ministry for special needs individuals that effectively facilitates their spiritual growth. First-hand experience working with and coordinating care for a variety of individuals with disabilities (preferably autism, developmental disabilities, or orthopedic impairment). Recruit, schedule, support, develop, and evaluate special needs ministry volunteers. Prepare curriculum and supplies. Develop and maintain a safe, clean, and appealing learning environment where special needs individuals can grow spiritually, emotionally and socially. Steward church resources with care, such as furniture, fixtures, equipment, supplies, and other resources used by special needs ministry. Weekly attendance to a worship service and ministry team meetings required. Foster a cooperative, healthy, and motivating relationship with staff, volunteers, and church families. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications, Experience and Critical Skills Agreement with The Cross Churchs faith statement and mission to spread His fame by making disciples of all people. Committed to biblical Christian principles and teachings both professionally and personally, including but not limited to I Timothy 3:1-7 and I Peter 5:1-4. Established pattern of Bible study and prayer. A personal conviction and calling to special needs ministry. Experience in special needs ministry at a Baptist church or a comparable denomination. Passionate about the spiritual formation of special needs children, adults and families. Proven ability to recruit, train, equip, supervise, and evaluate volunteers. Ability to thrive in a collaborative team environment. Ability to use appropriate judgment in the areas of discretion, sensitivity, and confidentiality. Compassionate, relational, self-motivated, strong work ethic, organized, and dependable with a willingness to do whatever it takes to get the job done. A prayerful, tithing, and participating member of The Cross Church. Ability to speak, read and write English. Sufficient good health to discharge duties properly.
