Job Description:

The Dental Business Assistant is responsible for providing exceptional customer service to patients at the dental clinic. This role involves efficiently managing patient appointments, handling inquiries, and utilizing patient care dental systems to maintain accurate patient records.



Essential Functions (Duties and Responsibilities) -
Assign a percentage to each essential function (equal to 100%):





  • Utilize patient care software for registration, scheduling, tracking patient care, and managing academic activities.

  • Facilitate communication between patients and dental care providers.

  • Ensure accurate and up-to-date patient information in the patient care software system

  • Facilitate communication between academic staff and students through software system's academic features.


10%



  • Maintain organized and accurate data within the software system, encompassing patient records, academic information, and financial data.

  • Generate reports and analyses as required.


10%





  • Process and manage patient payments and financial transactions. 10%

  • Coordinate insurance processing, verification including pre-authorizations and follow-up. 10%

  • Collaborate with the billing department to process patient payments, insurance claims, and financial transactions. 10%

  • Address patient inquiries related to billing and insurance matters. 10%

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:





  • Ability to clearly articulate concepts effectively in speech or writing.

  • Knowledge of cash management principles and/or procedures.

  • Ability to research patient accounts,

  • Basic knowledge of dental coding

  • Basic data entry and/or word processing skills.

  • Records maintenance skills.

  • Ability to analyze and solve problems.

  • Knowledge of dental procedures.

  • Ability to read, sort, check, count, and verify numbers.

  • Ability to prepare routine administrative paperwork.

  • Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams




Education and Experience:





  • Bachelor's Degree preferred (Associates Degree, some college experience or High school diploma/ GED may be acceptable with at least 2 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified).
