Job Description Summary:

PayPal is seeking a Director of Product Management - Seller Risk to lead our fraud and risk defense strategies for our 30+ million small and medium-sized business (SMB) portfolio. This role is critical in driving PayPal's ability to onboard sellers seamlessly while ensuring robust protections at key risk points-including product provisioning, funds availability, and money movement.
As a leader in the Seller Risk team, you will shape product strategy, develop risk-based frameworks, and work cross-functionally with risk, compliance, engineering, design, data science, and business teams to implement scalable solutions. Job Description:




Key Responsibilities




  • Define and execute risk strategy for seller onboarding, product provisioning, funds availability, and money movement, ensuring seamless customer experiences while mitigating fraud and financial risk.


  • Develop and drive a product roadmap that balances risk controls with user experience and business growth.


  • Lead cross-functional collaboration with risk, compliance, data science, engineering, legal, and business teams to implement scalable solutions.


  • Leverage data-driven decision-making to identify emerging fraud patterns, optimize risk models, and enhance controls.


  • Enhance seller trust and experience by innovating on risk mitigation approaches that reduce friction for legitimate businesses.


  • Influence and align stakeholders across different functions and leadership levels to drive execution and impact.


  • Ensure compliance with evolving regulatory and financial risk frameworks while maintaining business agility.


  • Manage and develop a high-performing team, mentoring product managers and fostering a strong product culture.


Qualifications




  • 10+ years of product management experience, with at least 5+ years in risk, fraud, or compliance-related products, preferably in fintech, payments, or e-commerce.

  • Strong strategic thinking skills, with the ability to define and execute a vision in a highly complex and dynamic environment.

  • Exceptional stakeholder management skills, with a proven ability to influence cross-functional teams and senior leadership.

  • Demonstrated execution excellence, with a track record of delivering complex risk-based products at scale.

  • Deep understanding of fraud prevention, risk modeling, and regulatory requirements in financial services.

  • Experience working with data science and machine learning teams to develop risk-based decisioning frameworks.

  • Strong analytical skills with a data-driven approach to problem-solving.

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex concepts for diverse audiences.

  • Bachelor's degree required; MBA or advanced degree is a plus.
