SUMMARY OF POSITION:

The Director, Brand Marketing is a senior role reporting to and working in close collaboration with our SVP of Marketing. You will build comprehensive and actionable marketing plans for the brand, leveraging best in class creative thinking and delivering meaningful executions. Responsible for translating and executing marketing objectives through the collaborative development of key messaging concepts, copy and design direction, digital leadership, and hands-on execution as necessary in support of overall corporate positioning, branding and company goals. As strong leader, you will partner internally and externally to expand the brand reach, drive growth and build unprecedented excitement for our brands.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • You will be the key business leader, inspiring the team and driving innovative marketing strategies for our family of brands, focused on the Nathan, McDavid and Glukos brands.
  • Develop extensive annual category plans, ensuring the brand has a meaningful long-term consumer positioning and achieves maximum volume profit/growth.
  • Develop creative marketing plans with multi-layered programs that drive sales growth for the brand. Work with agencies and internal teams to deliver primary global communication vehicles across advertising, PR, digital, social, etc.
  • Serve as a driving force for digital transformation efforts at USB, including elevating digital commerce experiences and impact, as well as demand generation activities to support the transformation
  • Work closely with Product Development team to inform future product roadmap and the positioning of each product
  • Guide all marketing resources on all product and campaign activity to ensure consistency across all marketing channels and branding assets
  • Collaboration with our internal creative on all output activities
  • Drive consumer insights / listening activities to generate understanding of market evolution
  • Help to enforce Brand Guidelines and ensure creative consistency
  • Provide timely and consistent communication of brand activity and key information to internal business partners.
  • Identify strategic partnerships that fit our brands’ missions and key business objectives to drive brand awareness, affinity and sales conversion.
  • Overseeing potential sales opportunities within customer base and working cross functionally with Sales Management teams to expand and develop new sales.
  • Manage Field Marketing, Ambassador and Athlete programs
  • Align with and support Creative Services on all photo shoots
  • Other duties as assigned.


POSITION SPECIFICS:

  • This is a full-time position
  • Typical work hours and days are Monday – Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
  • This position is based out of the Fountain Valley, CA office
  • This position is expected to travel approximately 20%.
  • This position requires in-office attendance at least 3 days per week (subject to increase in future).

PAY TRANSPARENCY:

  • The Company is committed to fair, equitable, and transparent compensation. Final compensation will be determined by various factors such as your relevant work experience, education, certifications, skills, and geographic location.
  • The salary range for this role in Fountain Valley is $150,000 - $175,000
  • In addition, you may be eligible for additional compensation, such as a bonus. Employees may also be eligible for a wide range of other benefits, including health & wellness benefits, retirement, time off, employee discounts, and others.
  • SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Direct supervision of Marketing Communication & related functions, including earned media, paid media, owned media and grass roots event activation.
  • Recruit, train, lead, develop, evaluate, and retain direct and indirect labor associated with the dept.
  • Recommend and assist with employee development programs. Ensure performance objectives are outlined and completed thoroughly and in a timely manner.
  • Work with Human Resources for coaching, counseling and corrective actions.

REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s Degree. Marketing, Advertising or related field highly desired.
  • You will be a seasoned and strategic business executive with proven experience in consumer organizations where marketing drives revenue.
  • You will have an in-depth working knowledge of the consumer landscape and a successful track record delivering programs that meet or exceed corporate revenue growth.
  • 8+ years of brand strategy/marketing experience in forward thinking consumer organization preferably supporting a global brand.
  • Experience marketing in Sports and/or Sporting Goods products, with a passion for the running industry, highly preferred.
  • Experience launching a DTC brand highly preferred.
  • Capable of shaping a clear strategic vision and effectively communicating that throughout all levels of the organization.
  • Experience developing cross-channel product & mktg plans that meet/exceed global business objectives.
  • Track record of managing multiple projects with a demonstrated ability to prioritize efforts based on ROI to the business.
  • Background in hands-on accomplishments in delivering market share, sales growth and profitability.


Minimum Requirements:

  • Minimum of 8+ years of diverse marketing experience, including in creative direction, branding, digital marketing leadership, and/or art direction with heavy emphasis on concept/copy development in an agency or corporate environment. 50+% on corporate side.
  • 8+ years leading a team of marketing professionals. Experience in building, mentoring, and coaching a team of marketing, digital and creative teams to elevate their creative impact.
  • Ability to think strategically and analytically and make sound decisions quickly and efficiently. Delivers multiple workstreams on time and on budget.
  • Innovative thinker, with a track record for translating strategic thinking into action plans and output.
  • Proven experience in conceptualizing marketing concepts that drive differentiation.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and team leadership of digital marketing technologies and strategies including website development, SEO, SEM, and content management.
  • Experience in working with a broad cross-section of media/influencers with well-developed skills in building and extending media/influencer relationships.
  • Experience leading cross functional teams as well as direct employees, vendors and agencies.
  • Deep knowledge level with various aspects of traditional and non-tradition production, including web, video, and other multi-media.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Power Point/Key Note, Adobe Creative Suite.
  • The ability to multitask and articulate clear creative direction and underlying business rationale to team members to ensure streamlined execution and impactful results.
  • Ability to influence and engage direct and indirect reports and peers
  • Exceptional written, oral, and executive presentation skills.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Candidate must be able to successfully perform the essential functions of this job with ability to: be in a stationary position 50% of the time; occasionally move about inside the office to access fine cabinets, office machinery (such as a calculator, copy machine, printer, etc.); constantly operate a computer; occasionally ascend/descend stairs; constantly position self to maintain files in file cabinets; the ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand; must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations; the ability to observe details at close range (within a few feed of the observer); and frequently move boxes weighing up to 20 pounds across office for various needs. Ability to work in outdoor weather conditions if projects/opportunities arise. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
