Onsite, 3-month temp. opportunity within the dynamic healthcare industry. As a Risk Management Coordinator, you will be responsible for conducting timely investigation, coordination, and response to reported occurrences, as well as facilitating satisfactory resolution of patient concerns, complaints, and grievances reported in the risk management system. The Risk Management Coordinator also assists with reporting requirements related to compliance, privacy, confidentiality, and protection of health information. There is potential for this assignment to get extended or go permanent depending on business needs!
Responsibilities:
Investigates occurrences and complaints reported in the risk management system. Reviews medical records, policies and procedures to analyze occurrence.
Interviews health care providers, patients, and family members involved in occurrences in a timely manner.
Drafts and maintains summaries of investigations, recommendations, and corrective action plans.
Maintains internal department log for any corrective action follow-up.
Updates and maintains risk management and HIPAA information.
Identifies best practices, improves processes, develops and facilitates training with staff to improve compliance and mitigate risk.
Creates and maintains monthly compliance and risk management reports.
Coordinates organization-wide risk management report and collects data from clinical and administrative departments.
Supports risk management related committees, e.g., Corporate Compliance, Clinical Risk, Quality Improvement, and Safety Committees.
Ensures continued education with proof of training compliant for annual risk management role updates.
Collaborates with Chief Innovation Officer and Corporate Compliance & Risk Manager to identify, develop, implement, and maintain the organization's information privacy policies and procedures in accordance with federal and state Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) regulations.
Prepares privacy training programs and conducts internal HIPAA audits.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree required in public health, business administration, or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience.
2+ years of healthcare risk management or comparable experience.
Knowledge and experience with information privacy laws and regulations, including access and release of information and the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
Computer proficiency, particularly with the Microsoft Office suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Knowledge and application of pertinent healthcare regulatory requirements and statutes preferred.
Experience working in a Federally Qualified Health Center or healthcare environment preferred.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with people of all ages and social and ethnic backgrounds, including patients, medical staff, co-workers and the public.
Ability to analyze and interpret data.
Ability to interpret medical terminology.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong verbal and written communication, interpersonal, organizational, problem-solving, time management, and multi-tasking skills.
