The Scoping Engineer is responsible for identifying all technical aspects of telecommunications equipment and services for deployment at assigned sites. This role ensures site suitability, reviews construction documents, and defines work types and packages. The Scoping Engineer also proposes site constructability changes, develops the Scope of Work (SOW), documents customer and supplier requirements, and creates the Bill of Materials (BOM) used for project execution. This work is performed through site visits, desktop document reviews, and aerial imagery analysis using Ericsson tools.
Job Responsibilities
Develop and document a comprehensive SOW and BOM for each site, including work types and project drivers.
Provide technical expertise for construction and deployment teams.
Understand and interpret customer requirements, construction standards, and work packages.
Analyze and review site construction drawings, RF Design Frequency Sheets (RFDS), and structural/mount design elements.
Utilize drone survey data to review and redline RFDS, CDs, and structural designs for accuracy and constructability.
Identify and propose site constructability changes to achieve the RF design.
Create and document SOW, BOM, and project drivers in Ericsson Site Rollout (ESR).
Develop a day-by-day build/outage plan and coordinate with stakeholders.
Adjust schedules and collaborate with project managers, construction managers, and service providers on scope changes.
Review and approve supplier quotes, including materials, services, and rental equipment.
Identify rigging and crane requirements for site builds.
Participate in project planning meetings, offering guidance and problem resolution.
Generate reports and presentations related to project status and issue resolution.

Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor's degree preferred or 2-5 years of industry experience.
Experience in cell site construction and technology upgrades.
Expertise in site design, order of operations, and feasibility assessment.
Ability to review and ensure accuracy of construction drawings and RFDS.
Knowledge of general construction practices, site safety, and material requirements.
Understanding of structural design, rigging, and crane operations.
Experience in scope estimation, contractor management, and bill of materials development.
Familiarity with Ericsson quality standards and troubleshooting methodologies.
Knowledge of leasing, vendor, and customer contracts.
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure.
OSHA 10 or 30 certification (dependent on role responsibilities).
Preferred Experience
Experience with Ericsson equipment and large-scale RAN projects.
Tower and civil construction management expertise.
