Engineering Lab Technician or Sr. Engineering Lab Technician
Ada County Highway District is accepting applications for the position of Engineering Lab Technician or Sr. Engineering Lab Technician in the Material Testing Lab. Starting wage for the Engineering Lab Technician is $17.20 - $19.70 per hour, DOQ, and the Sr. Engineering Lab Technician wage is $20.80 - $23.90 per hour, DOQ.

Conducts sampling and testing of soils, aggregate, asphalt, and concrete to assure minimum District standards and specifications for construction materials are met (in the field and laboratory) and also completes the necessary documentation for each test. Both the Engineering Lab Technician and Sr. Engineering Lab Technician interact frequently with District inspectors and contractors.
Sr. Engineering Lab Technician:
Additionally, performs technical materials tests and supervises other employees in the performance of their standardized laboratory tests. The incumbent often functions as the lead technician for field sampling and materials sample gathering.
Qualifications:
Engineering Lab Technician & Sr Engineering. Lab Technician:
Knowledge of basic construction and engineering practices and procedures, and ability to perform basic mathematic equations is required. Experience using Excel is also required.
A valid Idaho driver’s license is required. Must be able to lift/move up to 100 lbs. frequently.
Any combination of experience, education, and training which provides the required knowledge may be acceptable.
Must obtain WAQTC certifications within 6 months.
Both Engineering Lab Technician & Sr Engineering Lab Technician may require a shift change by a 24 hour notice and rotating weekend work will be required.
Sr. Engineering Lab Technician:
Additionally, must have current WAQTC certifications, considerable knowledge and experience with laboratory and materials testing equipment, practices and procedures. Knowledge of basic construction and engineering practices and procedures, and ability to perform complex mathematical equations is required. Experience using Excel is required.
