A dynamic position as a Mortgage Loan Underwriter with Central Bank involves high level of knowledge with the secondary mortgage market. JOB SUMMARY:

Reviews and evaluates residential mortgage loan applications to ensure they comply with bank and investor guidelines so that the loan can be sold in the secondary mortgage market or retained in the bank’s portfolio.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

* High school diploma and five or more years of mortgage market underwriting experience with extensive knowledge of FNMA (Desktop Underwriter), FHLMC (Loan Prospector), FHA (TOTAL), RHS (GUS) and VA underwriting guidelines; OR a Bachelor’s degree plus three years of experience as outlined above.

* FHA Direct Endorsement (DE), VA (LAPP) and KHC certifications highly preferred.

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS REQUIRED:

* Strong computer skills with working knowledge of WORD and Excel.

* Good written and verbal communication skills

* Accuracy and attention to detail.

* Ability to analyze loan applications to ensure compliance with both bank and secondary market investor guidelines.

* High degree of ethical standards

* Good time management skills and ability to prioritize commitments.

* Commitment to customer service with both internal and external partners

* Good interpersonal skills.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Analyzes loan applicants’ financial status, credit, income/expense ratios, assets and property appraisal to determine appropriateness for granting loan approval so as to ensure compliance with bank and secondary market guidelines.

2. Ability to perform critical income analysis through accepted Cash Flow / Self Employed analysis related to self-employed borrowers.

3. Reviews loan files with processing and origination staff to ensure quality mortgage loan production sold into the Bank Portfolio along with secondary mortgage market to minimize Bank’s risk of repurchase.

4. Remains current with all lending guidelines and keeps all staff abreast of any changes. Continuous education through Bank / Investor offered product knowledge training.

5. Discuss complex / challenging borrower transactions with other Underwriting Staff to ensure consistent underwriting practices within Bank / Investor guidelines.

6. Coordinates with all parties to resolve questions pertaining to the approvability of loan requests.

7. Approves loans on a timely basis within lending limits established by the Bank and secondary market investors.

8. Answers promptly and efficiently all telephone or written inquiries concerning underwriting decisions or issues. Confers with loan officers and/or the processing staff to resolve any application problems that may arise.

9. Assists the processing manager in regards to monitoring compliance with all bank policies, federal/state regulations and secondary market guidelines.

10. Submit appraisals to UCDP portal to obtain SSR reports and address returned warnings if needed. Perform appraisal reviews and release for delivery in accordance with Reg Z requirements.

11. Complete all applicable worksheets as required by Investor/Agency requirements.

12. Perform second review of denied loans for secondary market.

13. Performs other duties as assigned.
