The Heavy Equipment Mechanic intern will work in the heavy equipment shop alongside the experienced mechanics. This person will receive hands-on experience and learn how to maintain, repair, troubleshoot, install, and repair all mechanical, electrical and electronic equipment related to mobile equipment, stationary engines, and associated equipment for efficient and safe operation of the plant. This position will work out of our Lakeside shop and will work around school schedules.
Critical Activities:
Adheres to and enforces prescribed ethical, safety, and environmental measures.
Observe all safety precautions and rules specified by federal, state, and company regulations
Report unsafe conditions, accidents, or incidents immediately to the Lead person or Manager
Become familiar with the operations of a heavy equipment shop and the whole maintenance process
Ensures all activities are performed in accordance with the Company's Mission, Vision, and Values, and in compliance with the Company's policies, procedures, and Code of Ethical Business Conduct
Basic computer skills required
This person will work the 2nd shift and must be available for overtime when needed.
Skills and Qualifications:
Currently pursuing a diesel technology degree
Prior full-time experience not required
Must possess valid driver's license
We are excited to share the base range for this position is $22.00-26.00, exclusive of benefits or bonuses (discretionary and non-discretionary). The offered base hourly compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, business need, market conditions, proficiencies, skills, education, and experience. Additionally, at Martin Marietta we place a high value on internal pay equity and will consider the compensation for those in similarly situated roles and direct team members. The posted range for this role represents the total reasonable pay range and does not solely represent a hiring range. Therefore, hiring at the top or maximum of the range should not be expected as it would not allow for salary growth opportunities in the role, would diminish promotion value, and may not align with internal equity.
