As a Precision Assembly Technician for our Instruments Electrical Engineering group, you will assemble, repair and test electro-mechanical components assembles in light production to engineering prototype quantities.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assemble, align, test, and calibrate electro-mechanical assemblies
• Build cables from detailed drawings using soldered and crimped contacts
• Run software programs to perform functional circuit testing
• Troubleshoot/repair subassemblies, finished units, and production circuit boards
• Assemble/repair SMT electronics assemblies.
• Fabricate, assemble, and test prototype systems.
• Document test procedures, experiment setups and procedures
• Collect data and results
• Maintain work area and equipment in clean and orderly condition. Follow prescribed work and safety rules
• Assist in developing assembly and test procedures for new products. Identify problems with documentation and initiate corrections and improvements for new and existing products and methods.

Required Skills and Competencies:

• High School Diploma required, associate's degree in a related technical field a plus
• 4-6 years of experience
• Working knowledge of analog and digital electronics, electrical schematics, measuring instruments, and electro-mechanical troubleshooting techniques.
• Soldering and crimping expertise required.
• Certification to IPC standards J-STD-001 and/or A-610 is a plus.
• Computer programming experience helpful.
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds.

Applicants must be capable of interpreting spatial relationships of assemblies using detailed drawings and be able to work with procedures, parts lists, schematics, diagrams, written and verbal instructions with minimal assistance. Must be familiar with mechanical measuring equipment, meters, oscilloscopes and other related test equipment.
