Job Description:

The Project Accountant will be responsible for performing basic to intermediate level accounting duties of assigned project(s), including transactional accounting and complex invoicing reviews, as well as analyzing financial information and preparing financial reports to support the controls department and operations team of the assigned project(s).



ESSENTIAL DUTIES
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and ability required. Core duties and responsibility include the following:


  • Support the Project Controls process for reviewing progress payments with owner or owner's representative.

  • Maintain documentation of backup required to support owner invoice as required (time tracking reports, invoices paid, subcontractor requests for payment, etc.)



Submit Owner Billing according to Owner Billing Process for Job and maintain accurate and timely billing records


Accounts Payable


  • Manage coding and approval of miscellaneous invoices to ensure application to correct budget and issuance of timely payments.

  • Review subcontractor requests for payment to ensure compliance with subcontract budget, scope and installed work.

  • Maintain accurate records of retainage held and released for subcontractor payments.

  • Resolve outstanding invoicing issues or discrepancy with subcontractors, consultants, and vendors.



Financial Reporting


  • Assists with month-end reporting, including financial reports and reconciliations.

  • Conducts monthly review of all project financials to ensure billings and cost budgets are balanced, complete and ready to close.

  • Assists Project Manager in closing projects and contracts once project is complete and all costs are billed, transferred, and issued.



Budget Management


  • Understand & maintain budget for construction including General Conditions, General Requirements, Cost of Work, Insurance, and Fee.

  • Review task orders, change orders, work authorizations and purchase orders for contract compliance and funding availability before routing and execution.

  • Performs any necessary cost transfers to accurately record job cost activity.



Audit


Audit review and process contractor invoices to ensure contract compliance



EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE



  • Bachelor's or Associate's degree in accounting or finance or equivalent relevant work experience.
